That Seattle trade is an interesting one. I'm pretty meh on the rest for a variety of reasons. Most importantly, Giroux is definitely going to require more to sign.

Giroux isnt signing for that cheap.
Not a great idea to start a totally green rookie like Holloway on his off side.
Woodcroft loves Malone, he will see regular minutes on the 4th line before Shore does.
Skinner will be full time backup Goalie
Pass on Benson, he is a career AHLer, nothing more- re-up Perlini instead.
They are going to have to do better than Gudbranson in the free agent market if they are losing Keith AND Barrie.

Thanks for the feedback… I agree with skinner.. but I’m not getting convinced he is NHL ready yet.. Husso / Comrie is an upgrade to last years goalies… I consider Gubranson / kieth a bit of a trade off… one slow the other adds size and played well in Calgary last year…
I don’t disagree about the GIROUX comment.. so lose the Benson signing and throw that to GIROUX.. anything over 4M I think is overpaying at at this point..
Malone comments make sense except he never used him until their last playoff game… so I don’t know why Woodcroft is such a big fan of him…

Skinner should have been starting last season.

Giroux wants term... the only way he's signing that cheap is if you give him 5 years.

And the Oilers aren't about to "through" in a 5th so that Keith can retire a 'hawk. He waived to go to Edmonton, he can retire from there.

If Keith indeed wants to retire a hawk the oilers wouldnt have to throw anything in to do the trade. The Blackhawks would of course accept the trade for "future considerations". Both teams would respect his wish, he is a future hall of famer.
