Every Sens fan owes Matt Murray a debt we can never repay. If he had been willing to go to Buffalo this could have been our future. Shout out Buffalo for being THAT awful.

Why should we believe Bruce Garrioch?

Or Darren Dreger for that matter?

It most certainly was NOT a career year. He was on a 50 goal per game pace in the bubble and OVER a ppg...can't help that the NHL scheduled less games. And Please...2 assists different from his 2018/2019 season...career year??? It's easily arguable it was his 3rd best season out of 5.

My issue with the trade is that if you draft the #7 pick...odds are VERY likely that all you're doing is hoping he turns into Debrincat...which is extremely unlikely. It's not like they got much more. The #39 pick...meh. Not even another 1st or prospect? He said he wanted a top 10, top prospect, and NHL player. He got 1 of 3. I'd rather have the Hagel return than this.

https://www.nhl.com/news/2016-nhl-redraft-adam-fox-jumps-into-top-five/c-325630580

I mean just look at the NHL's redraft. Debrincat's the 3rd best player. Why would a known player get something worse that a magic bean? The #1 and #2 OA picks don't always pan out. Just should have got more plain and simple.

i mean if its what he was traded for chances are thats the most he could have got. saying that player is qorth more just means you (or we) might be wrong in the perceived value of the player. now if he should have been traded.... thats a whole different discussion.

Brandon Hagel got a better return. Let that sink in.

I think the Hawks won the deal. I'll assume the Sens finish out of the playoffs in 22/23. DeBrincat kinda has the Sens by the nuts. Giving up three picks including number 7. Sens are in the position where they almost to pay his next contract cause he can walk in summer of 2024. Kings gave up a lot less in draft for a five year signed Fiala.
The Hawks get a premium draft pick. and cap going forward to sign a UFA this season for what DeBrincat will sign for soon.
Gaudreau (for example) and the first, second and three picks for DeBrincat seems like a win for Chicago.

I'm ****ing baffled as to how this trade manifested when mere hours before, it was going to be Murray (25% retained) and 7oa for 16oa. Murray probably saved Dorion's job by refusing to budge on his NMC...

Massive W for the Sens and I'm really looking forward to Cat playing on Stu's wing!

Fake news.

Bruce Garrioch got played, as did Darren Dreger.

Nothing else to it.

But both of those tie together. If THE GM thinks he isn't getting the value of the player...this isn't the only opportunity to trade him. I mean, that's literally what he was preaching at the TDL with DeHaan/Kubalik/Strome. Now what? Kubalik couldn't get what you wanted at the TDL so he's potentially going to walk? DeHaan couldn't get a 7th and now he's literally walking? AND for the record...if that's the position KD wants to take fine, but why wasn't that approach used here??? Doesn't make any sense. He forced this trade and it's terrible. I sincerly hope he trades that 7th OA pick down about a dozen times and for picks into next year.

well, trying to explain what KD is doing is beyond me. i agree that at a different time its quite possible he could have gotten more. unfortunaly we will never know

Really? I think it sets up the Hawks into a good UFA (maybe Gaudreau) and the Hawk have the Sens picks too.

Chicago could hit on two of the three picks and Ottawa could still win this deal.

Bearcat will be the next Bobby Ryan for the Sens, just wait and see, his production will drop and the Sens will resign him to a huge contract which they'll regret.

Mark my words, I'm never wrong.

Remember this day when Bearcat get's bought out 5 years from now.

I voted Hawks for winning the trade. Bearcat's career will flatline in Ottawa.

Considering they almost couldn’t get an extension done with Tkachuk don’t be surprised if they fail to do so with DeBrincat

Is OTT really that clear of a winner? I'll be interested to see how DeBrincat performs without a world class player on his other side. Not to mention his QO next year is $9 million and I believe he also has arb rights.

Yea, I find it funny people are claiming Matt Murray saved the GM his job, by refusing the trade to Buf ?, allowing this trade to happen. Dorion may lose his job if he can't find a team willing to pay Murray $15 million in real cash for 2 years of hockey. And buyout cash will piss the Sens owners off too.

That's why in one ACGM I created had the Leafs trading Mrazek for Murray, the Leafs owners have no problem spending $15 million for no good reason.

We sure do have a problem spending $15M and 6M against the cap for two years for a goaltender no better than the one we are trying to unload.

If he was LTIR bound, sure. TOR pays people not to play all the time. This isn't the same.

Gotta be honest.... Korchinski is a strong add for sure, but I think they left talent on the table there.
