Blackhawks Going Rate

Created by: ashleyschaeffer
Team: 2022-23 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 7, 2022
Published: Jul. 7, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
They just gave away DeBrincat, might as well continue the firesale for underwhelming returns. The odd thing is Buffalo has the cap space to do this and can still sign a goalie.

Why not go for Dach, he's available for like a top-15 pick apparently

I mean I guess. Hawks not retaining on 21 mil in cap allows them to weaponize their cap for picks helping the rebuild. Hard to understand why the sabres r giving up a good prospect with the 16th pick for a rental that may not even make the playoffs in a stacked Atlantic. Ottawa is one top 4 d man away from leap frogging the sabres.

I would argue that Ottawa has leapfrogged Sabers with today's trade

Oh hell no. It would bring only troubles to Sabres.
it's not worth trading for them, without extensions, which would be massive and would make trouble retaining current core.

I’d think that depends on which Sabres team you get. If the Sabres play like they did in March/April (106 point pace Iirc)of last year, then there’s little chance IMO, but if you get Nov-Feb Sabres, yeah most likely.

I mean you are also an ottawa fan. I think the steps the young core takes in buffalo is more than the steps the young core takes in ottawa, cat I don’t see covering the difference himself. Buffalo will have petreka, Quinn, and power all entering the league. Most likely all of them are impact players for them. Difference between the two squads is the goal tending and that’s what holds both of them back for the long run. Matt Murray and Craig Anderson are not leading a team to the playoffs in their current states. I’d argue of the Atlantic teams that missed the playoffs last year, Detroit has the best chance to make it this year because of goaltending. Cats entrance to the sens squad is less than power, Quinn, and petreka rn entrance to buffalo. A top 4 D in say weegar is what bumps the sens past the sabres but goaltending holds both squads back against playoff teams which is why I wouldn’t be surprised if both missed again this year even tho they will have both improved massively

i'm surprised this has been taken seriously. if kane and toews waive to come to buffalo, i would think at least kane stays and maybe toews would stay too because they think they can chase another cup with buffalo in the next 5 years.

Better chances for them to win cup with Sabres rather than Chicago after yesterday.
