I'm glad Blues got return for Ville Husso and he didn't just outright walk away, but Armstrong - for my sanity -

A 3rd is pretty high for UFA rights. It's typically been a 5th in recent years

Goalies are really in high demand ; Georgiev RFA rights and now Husso UFA rights. And we can even include the relative small price paid to dump Mrazek

Sounds like Husso is getting a 3 year 4.75M per deal from DET. Friedman just tweeted it.

St Louis wins since they were gifted a 3rd rounder for a player that was going to walk.

Pretty much my take. Goaltending UFA/RFA class isn't real strong and Detroit needed a stopgap for about 2-3 years. I think Husso will be fine. Not amazing, but fine.

Odd, second goalie in as many years Yzerman has traded a 3rd round pick for.

Detroit is not one of the teams I thought Husso might go to, but maybe that’s why they felt they had to trade for his rights. Pretty high price for a pending UFA. That’s the same as what they gave up for Nedeljkovic as a RFA. Ned can become a UFA after this season, so it probably makes sense to bring in somebody else now, since they have enough cap space that they can afford to spend almost $8M on a goalie tandem, and maybe trade Ned at the deadline if they’re out of the playoffs again.

Yzerman has a thing for trading a 3rd for a goalie in the offseason, 2nd year in a row.

A win for Detroit - Only had to give up one 3rd round.... While Colorado gave up 3 draft picks.

Husso > Georgiev

St.Louis wasn't gonna sign Husso anyways. They got a 3rd round pick for nothing. Good for them.

I would have agreed with you 4 hours ago, but then Detroit overpaid, so they gave up more than they needed to sign a contract that costs too much.

At least in my opinion. Maybe Husso will be amazing, despite is very short resume.

Husso > Georgiev

Are we sure about that? The sample size here is tiny, so I don't know if we can tell which goalie is actually better.

It should only cost a 5th round pick to acquire the signing rights to a UFA like Ville Husso.

Instead, Detroit decided to pay a 3rd round pick.

St. Louis wins the trade.

I'd be fine with Lindgren getting the nod for the backup spot. Let's see how Chucky Sideburns does with a larger sample size.
