Goalies just need to play a good half season to get paid

Take note kids

Anyway DET has cap space. No real consequence if it's a bad signing

Campbell and Kuemper can just sit back and watch teams bid for their services.

The lack of available starting goalies likely drove up his price. Can't wait to see what Campbell and Kuemper get...

Atleast he's only 27 and will likely continue to grow.

I think this was a trade/signing that fit Detroit's timeline and budget better than what else was realistically available. Detroit needed a stopgap in their tandem for about 2-3 years and players like Kuemper and Soup were likely looking for more term. My wife is originally from the Lou, so we watch a LOT of Blues games. Husso had a solid season, but he really needs to work on stopping the first shot against which is something he still seems to struggle with. Other than that, I like a lot of his game and he should be a solid upgrade over Greiss.

He had a very good season.....but that's it. I don't really understand this. I guess the Ned train is over, I'd be shocked if they keep Ned. Sounds like they've had enough of his inconsistency. But, bad contract.

Yzerman betting that his great 14 game stretch earlier this season was more representative of the future than his entire career before and since. Ouch.

Also needs to work on his puck handling as that caused problems in the playoffs against the Avs. He also has rebound control issues as you mentioned, but his side to side mobility is fantastic.

I don't get the hate. DET desperately needed a goalie and gave up very little for the guy who just finished 7th in Vezina voting. This is coming from a jealous Sabres fan.

Mamma mia that's a tough steak to swallow! Now you wonder, is he like Mrazek with the Hurricanes or like Anderson with the Leafs?

He's not a household name and his game isn't perfect. But I suspect the other UFA goalies out there wanted more term than Detroit wanted to give, so Husso was the most attractive target for them.

I think something between 3.0M and 3.75M would be fair enough. It's not a good AAV, but it's not that bad that some guys here are talking about, because of the good term.

Risk reward signing, this could go well or terribly for the Red Wings.
