Draft is crazy

Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 8, 2022
Published: Jul. 8, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
These are major trades that are potnetially not going to happen, but I'd try these to move cap, players and considerably change the blue line face of the Habs. Bring in some new blood from the draft in Slafkovsky and Dach, and sing Marchment to bring nin size and power to the third line.

Dallas is set in net with Oettinger and Wedgewood - we absolutely do not want Allen at his cap hit

Yea really, both are overpaid but 1 yr over 3 yrs makes a huge difference. Then add the retention, and the fact that while Drouin has been essentially trash he still has miles of upside over Armia... I'm not saying either are worth much but let's get real here, MTL just keeps Drouin and let's him walk next year if they're gonna have to pay to move him? It makes no sense in this proposal imo

I get it, but he missed too many games last year and the year before. Give me a 100% Drouin and he has value. Right now, the team that grabs him know they must have a perfect situation for him in order to get him to play. Hence why you need to pay to move the contract out.

I'll give you 2 2nd rounders if Montreal will quite trying to dump Petrys full salary on us. It's not feasible with where we are at salary wise.

In that case MTL would simply hang onto Drouin and let him walk for free instead of trading an asset

There's no point paying to dump UFA Drouin and retain money. He could get value at the TDL. Players like Armia/Hoffman on the hand have term and the Habs will need cap space in the 2023 offseason for the Caufield extension and bonuses
