Kuemper had a 0.898. Smith wasn't great, no, but don't blame this entirely on him.

And If the Oilers had .916 goaltending against the Avs, the series would have been very very close.
Like @CD282 said, they are very very close. Just a few tweeks away.

It would have been closer, but Avs were the stronger team and it showed.

I do think they're closer than they've been in a while, but you need better goaltending and more depth on defense. Keith retiring helps a bunch. Need a better top-pairing dman with Nurse; Manson is 2nd-pairing IMO. And I still think you need a better goalie than Skinner or Comrie, but that's just me.

As I've heard for the past few years regarding the Avs, none of it matters unless you win in the postseason.

Edmonton made it farther this year than Colorado had in 20 years. And they were Colorado's closest competitor. The Avs were the better team, but Edmonton was close. Small improvements will put them on par, especially if Colorado's goaltending takes a step back.

That's what happens when you play in the dog**** division that is likely to only get worse once Gaudreau leaves Calgary. If Holland plays his cards right, EDM could be much improved next year, but history says he'll do something stupid.

    See you in the playoffs
