What would it take? Zadina isn't a Yzerman pick and has fallen out of favour with the team. In Martinez they get a Stanley Cup winner to put beside Seider and flip for a return similar to Leddy in a year.

Who says he has fallen out of favour with the team? People say that but there is nothing stating that. He's just a player that struggled under the old coach to start his career. He has a very high ceiling of he can reach it and hopefully Lalonde will utilize him way better than Blashill did.
We would take Martinez and if you use the McDonagh trade as a base, it will be for future considerations. I would be willing to send a mid to late round pick for him though.

If Jarmo had any history of taking cap dumps then I'd say that's probably one that would get done. Since he hasn't ever taken one though I would say you'd have to find a different spot for Brossoit.

That was my thinking too. Plus, with Korpisalo under contract AND Tarasov in Cleveland, Brossoit would be completely superfluous, and at $2.325M, I'd expect at least a 2nd in compensation for taking on that contract.

Rumours I've heard but fair enough. I think they would be fine with your counter. The need is to create the cap space and Zadina was just the cherry.

$2M for one year is nothing for a team with $16M in cap space and only needing to sign Laine. Tarasov would be better off playing full minutes in Cleveland next year and join Columbus next year no?

I get that, it fills a need for a backup and reaching the floor and they get assets. Cap dumps haven't been around that long and there is a first time for everything.

Huh? The Jackets are well above the floor already, and they HAVE a backup in Korpisalo, plus a top prospect in Cleveland. You're not making sense, my guy. There are plenty of teams that would take on Brossoit as a backup at this rate, but CBJ ain't one of them.

    1. Right, I was mistaken about the floor. 2. Why did I think Korpisalo was a UFA this year and gone?

They just extended him for 1 year back in May.

Because he was a UFA until a little over a month ago and folks were predicting he'd walk.
