Dream Team

Created by: mvp13
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 9, 2022
Published: Jul. 9, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Gaudreau, Hayes, DeAngelo, Torts, and Gritty... my personal "dream team" of some of my favorite non-Ranger people. I would definitely cheer for this team if this could happen. This only works if Ellis is indeed going to be on LTIR all year/indefinitely as I understand (but am not 100% on).

I think the BUF trade is fair given the immense amount of cap space they have. If more is needed to be added, then feel free to make it happen.

Gaudreau may or may not offer a bit of a hometown discount in order to sign a ~1mil ish defenseman for the 3rd pairing. Otherwise, there may need to be a mid-season trade or some shuffling to get some veteran depth on the 3rd pairing.

Overall, this is a really strong team that should surely make the playoffs, depending on Sharter Fart.

That Buffalo trade gets you investigated by the league for collusion.

    wut

PHI gets out of a bad contract by dumping it to a rebuilding team so they can sign a better player, at the expense of futures. This happens all the time

I'm genuinely not, but all right. If Gaudreau wasn't available and undecided where he wants to play, I wouldn't recommend PHI to do it, as they have a fairly decent team as is. But it's the perfect opportunity to get him long term at the expense of some expendable parts, and the huge expiring contract. At the end of the day, I do sub-root for the Flames and would rather he stay there, but this is too interesting not to put on paper

You realize that that first probably gets this deal and any player on the Sabres the Flyers want?

Dumping JVR will probably cost a pair of 3rds, not a first and a guy with top six potential

There are not many (maybe only 2?) teams that could take on 7million in cap with no retention right now, today. BUF will have them by the balls, and they'll know it. In this same scenario, PHI will be cocky and overconfident that they'll have a strong core team for the next 3+ years with these two moves that they won't "need" the futures right now. They will also be pressured to get this done before/on free agency day to not lose Gaudreau. While JVR is a fairly consistent ~0.75PPG player, he just came off a really down year at less than 0.5 PPG, so his stock is not enormously high right now on top of the high dollar amount. I can very easily see it happening with all these factors involved

Only 2? What are you talking about lol…

I’m done here, this is the dumbest bait I’ve ever seen. You don’t even understand trolling my dude, you have to use facts to counter argument. Making up BS is just making you look ignorant

That's a hard no from Buffalo. The Sabres have far too much young talent who need to move up to park those trades for a year.

Buddy come on. Don’t fall for it and say equally as ridiculous stuff like that first can get any player. I can rattle off 5 players it doesn’t get and a couple more would be a maybe

There’s a very high chance Philly’s pick is top 3 next year. The team is awful and they are adding fuel to a dumpster fire. A top pick next year is worth more than any player on a lot of teams…

Not if they were adding someone like Dahlin. That pick could easily be 10 at that point. So when you say the first alone gets any player on Buffalo i say no

Not arguing that. Bringing in Torts =/= going for Bedard.

And not only that, say Philly finishes last. They still have a better shot picking 3rd over 1st. Getting a guy like Bedard is luck. I think most GMs would rather have 100% sure of Dahlin vs 18% chance at Bedard. But much like you said earlier, it’s a waste of time. The trade was silly. Philly will be keeping their first as they should and move on

Agreed, but there’s a lot going on that I think the team even with Torts is going to implode.

If the pick was protected it’s one thing, still don’t include Frost in that deal and probably ask for something back as well… not rights to a 32 year old goalie who probably would be our 3rd or fourth best goalie right now

If offered Buffalo would surely accept this deal even if the pick was top 10 protected.
It would cost significantly less for Buffalo to take on James' salary.
I would not want to speculate the exact amount, but if JVR could produce next year as he has this year, and if Buffalo retained 50% at the TDL JVR would fetch a nice return for the Sabres.

Thank you. It's double dipping for BUF and a big win for them, as well as a big win for PHI getting a player long term they want
