Have no idea how this is going to age, but right now this is fair value for a great winger.

I imagine NSH is going to get their moneys worth for the majority of this contract. The last couple of years might be rough, but that's the price you pay.

Locking 10% of current cap space for a ppg player is good business

This is a great deal for Nashville! They keep their best player for $1 mil less than what I kept seeing cap friendly users willing to pay him to go to their teams. Paying it until he is 35 might not be ideal but the cap will be much higher by then. Him signing anything less than 8 years with Nashville would have been a bad move on his part.

The fact that he is a skill player may also help him with career longevity...

Good deal for Nashville but that's a lot of money for a long time locked up in a mediocre core

Seems to be 68 million reasons why he won the push and shove battle.

Lot of money and term, but for a ppg guy it's worth it, especially if you get a good 5-6 years out of this. Plus no NTC or NMC, so you have flexibility later if need be.

I vote yes. Lots of money, but this guy is the definition of consistency. Certainly more consistent than Martin Erat…

BOS fans should be ecstatic about this signing. Sweeney can use this as a comparable for Pasta

Exactly my first thought. Should keep Pasta below 10m now at least. Maybe 8.8? Just hoping he's willing to stay a Bruin.

He really chose to stay with a team that is a fringe playoff team at best.

What happen to people wanting 10+ million dollars.

It's to a point where every time you see a superstar player get a big 8-year contract it's between 8 million to 9.5 million
