Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Puljujärvi, Jesse [RFA Rights]
EDM
  1. Negotiating Rights, Jack Campbells
  2. 2024 4th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Swapping the rights of these two players where Toronto throws in a 4th to obtain RFA rights. This trade gives the Leafs a middle 6 forward who Edmonton appears to be moving on from and they have more time to negotiate with Campbell and now have the ability to sign him to max length contracts to bring down the yearly AAV if they feel inclined to.
2.
MIN
  1. Holl, Justin
  2. 2025 4th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
After signing Flower it seems Minny has created a riff with Talbot where he may be looking for a place to be the number 1 guy again. Sending Holl back to his home town with a 4th as a Sweetner for a player who appears to be looking for a way out.
3.
TOR
  1. Kuraly, Sean
  2. 2023 1st round pick (CBJ)
CBJ
  1. Muzzin, Jake
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Columbus was recently in on McDonagh, Jake Muzzin as a fall back option to solidify their D core is not a bad alternative. As much as i love Muzzin, we need to open an opportunity for Sandin and this is a way of bringing in a depth forward in Kuraly & a pick to help refill the pipeline of prospects for a supposedly deep draft
4.
TOR
  1. Foote, Nolan
  2. 2023 4th round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
If Kerfoot scores 20 goals (Setting a new career high) The 2023 4th becomes a 2023 3rd Round pick
NJD
  1. Kerfoot, Alexander
Additional Details:
Again, I love Kerf and wish we could keep him. But on an expiring deal flipping Kerf for a prospect and a pick to clear up cap space is the best option. I think he would be a very good top 9 forward/utility guy for the team that actually drafted him.

That Columbus trade is something else. McDonugh for free or pay a 1st and Kuraly for Muzzin and a 2nd. Columbus declines easily, that’s just a dumb trade for Columbus.

Pretty sure every team declines.

The EDM trade and Puljujärvi contract is just laughable.

Maybe there's a divide with Talbot, Guerin doesn't seem to think it's an issue. But if there is, MIN will get better offers than that.

Columbus was reportedly in on taking McDonagh for free... They're not giving up good assets for Muzzin.

Devils are trying to move out some of their middle-6 guys, not bring more in.

So out of touch. There is no chance Columbus comes anywhere near a trade like that. Kuraly signed 4 years to play for his hometown team. Columbus was interested in McDonagh for FREE not at the cost of a 1st. They have zero interest in trading high picks for old players.

Minnesota declines. We have no need for Justin holl and don't want him
As Guerin said yesterday, he's not trading Talbot

-Jack Campbell's UFA rights aren't really a very valuable thing, and I'm not sure why it keeps popping up here as a trade asset. You really only want someone's UFA rights if you're trying to sign them to an 8 year deal to lower the AAV, and I can't think of any team in the league that would be thinking about giving Jack Campbell an 8 year deal. I think you *can* get Puljujarvi's RFA rights for a pick from Edmonton, I think you just gotta aim it a little higher than a 4th. But you sure as hell aren't signing him for 2x$1.75M once you get him in town.

-Talbot should be somewhat available, and can probably be had for a 3rd and a prospect. I can't see them taking back Holl right now though - they've got a pretty full D corps and that $2M cap hit can be better used finding a new backup goalie to replace Talbot. Throw Holl to a team looking to upgrade RD3 and you'll at least recoup a 4th round pick from them.

-I just can't see CBJ making this deal. It's one thing for them to try and put a claim in on Ryan McDonagh, because they would've paid -zero- assets for him then. If all McDonagh got back for Tampa was a 6/7th D and a C-tier prospect, why do you think Columbus gives up a full blown roster player and downgrades their 2023 1st into a 2024 2nd for Jake Muzzin?

-I don't see the Devils making a move for Kerfoot unless they move one of their other wingers out. I think the value's a little rich here, too - Nolan Foote is a somewhat recent 1st round pick who put up solid numbers in the AHL this year, so his value is probably close to that of a 2nd rounder, and then you have a conditional 4th being thrown in. I think you can maybe convince the Devils to give up Nolan by himself but they don't need to add to get 1 year of Alex Kerfoot.

Some of the worse reasoning for non Leaf teams to do those deals.

Hard pass on Puljujärvi,, don't need another soft ass forward who won't battle in the corners dude. Overall this thread is just way off.

Posting the reasoning is not done often enough and is therefore an extremely welcome move (it helps stimulate discussion), but unfortunately your market value estimations need serious work. The Jackets trade, in particular, is really egregiously bad (others have explained it adequately enough already, tho).
