So instead of pursuing Evander Kane which will just cost money decide to go after Patrick that will cost assets and zero chance is anymore than more than a rental. Team would benefit alot more from Evanders physical play than Patrick's skill since we have very little physicality and lots of skill. Special teams Evander can help on the pk don't see Patrick doing much of that. Pp moving out jp there could be a net front spot open who's better suited to Battle in front of the net? I'm not big on handing Evander a massive long term deal but it would solve alot more areas of need than throwing significant assets away to have Patrick come in for a brief stint.
Barrie for soucy I just don't understand the point of unbalancing the lefty righty mix have its a significant downgrade made even larger by having a rookie replace that spot on his offside. I don't even care if just have a hate on for Barrie can't honestly think this won't have a huge negative impact on the team.

If you look a little closer, both Kane's are on this roster with the intent to win now. I prefer EK91 over Patrick, but what a first line. Need more physicality on defense; hence Soucy over Barrie. Barrie is expensive and unnecessary for future Oiler's success. Need to give some of the younger guys an opportunity to grow on an NHL roster with 3rd pairing protection and limited cost. My biggest concern is Murray, but I don't think Keumper or Soup resolve the issue either and are more expensive.
