Thinking maybe overpay a little to only give 1 year. But kessel can still play. His 52 points would be nice to have in Nashville

Getting Forsberg locked up for under $9M is a big win (still weird how long it got drawn out for, but can't complain with the end result). I felt a good forward would fall to NSH at #17, but I was thinking it would be one of Nazar, Lambert, or Geekie. A winger obviously wasn't the biggest need at the draft, but can't complain about scoring someone with Kemell's skill that late in the 1st.

The McDonagh trade was out of the blue, but he definitely makes the team better next season, and Poile didn't give up anything of much value there. I like that they moved on from Kunin (felt like Hynes was going to going to square peg/round hole him into the top six again next year), and I'm happy with the 3rd in return. If they get any value out of Leonard, even better.

Kessel isn't my first choice as the UFA top six forward the Preds still need to add, but if he only gets a one year deal, I don't hate it. I like the idea of giving Trenin a 4-6 year deal that looks like a bargain on the back half (a la Jarnkrok), as opposed to a 2-3 year deal. I'm decidedly more optimistic about the future of the Preds, than I was a month ago.

I would love to see us land a better top 6 forward but with the forsberg signing and Mac trade we don’t really have the cap room for a big feee agent signing unless we move on from say sissons which I wouldn’t be completely against. A trade for a top 6 player who has term would be another option. Right now I’m pleasantly surprised and happy what Poile has done this offseason so far. If he made another trade for a top 6 forward I would give him an A+ offseason
