Description
Here’s what the bruins should do before free agency next week. First start by offloading Reilly and Smith. They hold some value but just aren’t giving Boston what they need from them. 3rd rounders seem pretty fair value for both of them and the teams are obviously just a guess of who might be interested.

For free agent signings I like Trocheck. He has great production for a 2C and will fit perfectly in between pasta and Hallsy. Id rather go Trocheck then kadri or trade route. Trocheck is on the better side of 30 and bruins can’t afford to give up more young assets. Other then that I see them targeting one depth forward for very cheap. Colin whites a good local kid who will come pretty cheap on a prove it deal. I don’t feel like any of the young players are ready to step into a significant role yet. It’s better to allow Lysell and McLaughlin time to mature in the Ahl and I don’t think Studnicka nor Steen are good enough to play any significant role other then as a 13th forward as needed. Those guys will however have to fill in until the injured are able to return.

I also flipped some of the 3rd rounders for a second rounder. I see it as very important that the bruins put a huge emphasis on this draft. Getting back into the second round is important and will allow the bruins to add at least 3 high end prospects in a very deep and talented draft class.

Buffalo needs quality picks, not quantity at this point given how deep their prospect pool is. They have no reason to trade down.

Teams just starting their builds like Chicago may be more open to something like that.
