Patrick Kane is only worth a third based on the DeBrincat deal. That’s assuming Chicago retains 50% ofc lmao.

Chicago rushed the Debrincat trade, They would've gotten more for him if they waited a bit. The fact is they bamboozled the trade, so they can pick in the top 10. Kane is worth an equivalent of 2 1st, he's still a 90+ point player and a top 10 selling player in merchandise. If the Islanders wanted him it'll cost Wahlstrom + 1st.

Yeah, can’t see that happening. Isles can’t afford to trade their only young winger on a top line trajectory for a 34 YO

$3 retained probably kills the deal for Chicago tbh

on a slightly related note thank you to Lou for signing all those depth UFA/RFA guys so I don't have to do it if i want to do an Isles ACGM

That's fine, I think Kane would be an amazing fit on the Isles. But I see CAR, NYR, and TOR trying to target him and they have the assets to get it done.

Nah, he's worth at least a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd as a rental if he's being retained at 50%. He will set up Lee for a boat load of goals probably and perhaps he's still clutch in high pressure situations in the playoffs.

I think they would be happy trading for picks only, especially with next years draft being super deep even past the first round. Dach is younger than Wahlstrom, so not sure they would want him as a main piece since he will likely be a bit older than their core, and they would just move him in a year or two anyways since he would want to be on a team that competes.

They would also get more suitors (assuming Kane has more than one or a couple locations that he would want to go to) if they aren't targeting teams top prospects. They could just instead take picks and good prospects as throw ins.

They traded Dach before it's too late. Management sees him as the bust and they moved him before the ship sinks. Wahlstrom is still very young and management would absoultey want to build a deal around him.

Yeah, that's true but they also traded Hagel who is just a year older than Wahlstrom and on a cheap deal. They also could have gotten a prospect probably from Ottawa instead of the 2nd and 3rd perhaps but I think they would rather trust their scouting and it also gets guys who would be ready around the same time. I could be wrong about Wahlstrom but the coming draft is very deep.
