I would rather not sign a 34 YO, but it’s a better FA option than anyone besides Gaudreau and Burakovsky. Less risk with a 2-3 year deal than signing almost any other 28 YO to a 7 year deal

He didn’t have Tavares, and any moron could pick Matthews 1st overall. The Marner selection was also Dubas arguing for it iirc, and Babcock almost f*cked that up (he wanted Hanifin). There really isn’t an argument that he inherited a good team. 4 players do not make a team, he added the 5th member of the big 5, and added the necessary supporting pieces (Muzzin, Brodie, Campbell, Bunting, Kerfoot, etc.) to create the best Leafs team ever. As I’ve been saying, the lack of playoff success can’t be pinned on him, because he put the team in a position to succeed, and the players choked. If Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Rielly (all top 10 picks btw, no previous GM has ever left behind a player drafted lower than 8th overall, and we’ve all seen how important late round drafting is) were all you needed to win, the Leafs would have several rings.

Buffalo should trade for Weegar to play with Dahlin . 2023 1st (top 10 protected) , Bryson + Ryan Johnson for Weegar with extension (6.75 mill x 8)

I don't love it, id rather sign Manson or trade for someone like Chychrun if we are going to give up the assets.
+ Dahlin played amazing as a RD along side Samuelsson who is 23. Not really sure it would be smart to move away from that combo at all.

chychrun is my #1 but if the cost is astronomical (which seems likely) this is a nice fallback. My only qualm isint with his age, its that the sens need some contract assurance for the next 2 years while they find extensions for stutzle and sanderson
