Bob at 5.5M is actually worth quite a lot, Edmonton trade is really bad for the Panthers and the Vegas gets fleeced. Puljujarvi should fire his agent instantly if that's the best he can get. Duclair is going to miss a large portion of the season due to achilles surgery

Retaining 4.5 million for 4 years will get Florida alot more than a 4th

I had heard Duclair was further along then expected, like may only miss a month or 2. If he is out for a significant amount, I think they resign Giroux.
Vegas gets fleeced because they are up against the cap and Florida is taking Brossoit.
Agreed the Oilers would have to add a better prospect, but they are also doing Florida a bit of a solid by taking Hornqvist.... Not sure why Florida would move Weegar, there has just been some chatter about it. my guess maybe they have already talked to him about a contract extension and he has priced himself out with Huby & Knight needing a new deal next season.

Pujli has zero leverage. his QO is $1.9million, so he could just sign that for 1 yr and then explore UFA. Regardless, he should fire his agent, I think he is the cause of half of his issues anyways.

A lot of contradictory POV's here.
Brossoit makes like 2M, he is not overpaid, just expensive for Vegas, cap crunch. Attaching a high value roster player who will be on a super team friendly contract makes no sense. It also barely solves their actual issue. Realistically they will move pay a bit to move Brossoit and probably trade off Martinez too. That should provide them enough cap space to bring back Smith and sign all their important RFA's.
Edmonton isn't taking on Hornqvist, they are getting him retained and also getting a top end RD along as well. Hornqvist is still a very solid player and at 3.3M he is not overpaid.

Poolparty will almost certainly file for arbitration and get at least 3M.

Would you sign bob 5.5x4 in FA? Even retained he's still a negative asset

Moving Martinez would be a huge risk. Hague is only a #6D who might improve so we can afford to move him with 7 other D signed. The deal has fair value. Moving Pacioretty is the best way out of our cap trouble imo.

Even if Hague can't step into a top 4 role (despite being mostly partnered with AP last year and being analytically solid) Vegas still has McNabb and Theodore who can play top 4. Moving Patches gives the most cap relief but is not a smart idea

Analytically, Hutton did just as good with Pietrangelo, and Pietrangelo had one of his worst seasons. I think trading Martinez is doable but it throws the depth out of wack. Pacioretty is poor on the powerplay and doesn’t provide much defense. He’s a good even strength scorer but is not the one driving the line. And his even strength production drys up in tight game situations. I think it’s plenty reasonable to trade Pacioretty. Going into next season with all of our top 6 wingers age 30+ won’t go well.
