Saw this trade the other day but wondered if it could be altered to suit both teams better

    Bailey + Ferland + 2023 1st (Van) for Gallagher (1.5 mil retained) + 2023 3rd (Mtl)
    VAN
    2.
    MTL
    1. DiPietro, Michael [RFA Rights]
    2. Höglander, Nils
    3. Pearson, Tanner
    Additional Details:
    My alteration
    VAN
    1. Gallagher, Brendan
    2. 2023 3rd round pick (MTL)
    Additional Details:
Retaining on Gallagher is unrealistic IMO so asking for a 1st is out. Vancouver still dumps 3.5 mil and only give up 2 lesser prospects for the same package without retention though.

Gallagher hasn't been worth $6.5M for a couple of years, there is no way the Canucks make that deal.

You think Hoglander is a lesser prospect?

    What a terrible trade

That's a terrible trade for Vancouver. I'd rather have Pearson at $3.25M for 2 more years than Gallagher at $6.5M for 5 years.

The Canucks already have cap issues with a few bad contracts. No way they trade for another one, especially if one of the pieces going back is a cap controlled asset.

Hollander is a lesser prospect than whoever Vancouver selects this coming year with their 1st. The premise was that the Vancouver 1st is worth more than Hoglander and DePietro combined.

Pearson is worth about a 3rd, and Hoglander’s value >>> Gallagher’s. Canucks decline easily

Lol some warped thinking. Gallagher isn’t worth any of those

The only way I see Gally going to the Canucks is if OEL goes to the Habs. Even then I don’t think VAN would want to do it though.

TBH I didn't think the Canucks would be interested just saw this tread from a Canucks fan ant thought I would try to make it better.

If you would rather swap Ferland for Pearson that works too. Like I said not my idea just altered the original idea as I didn't see the Canucks wanting to part with their 1st.

Tbh the only way Gallagher would be an option for the Canucks is if Gallagher was 50% retained or if OEL went to Montreal in the deal (although I’d rather have OEL as he was pretty good for us last year)

If you wanna alleviate some cap take OEL otherwise there's zero reason for that Canucks to take on Gallagher

Again I based it off of a Canucks fans proposal. I wasn't looking to make huge alterations just tried to be more realistic about it. As in, Montreal wouldn't retain on 5 years and the Canucks wouldn't want to give up their 2023 1st. I figured the deal wouldn't work but thought maybe I would try anyway. I understand your position and respect that Canucks fans don't like the proposal. So let's just say it doesn't work and move on.

I’m assuming you’ve never watched Hoglander play otherwise I honestly have no idea how you would come to that conclusion.

I have, he is a good middle 6 prospect but given the odds are good that the Canucks could well miss the playoffs again next year that would put that 1st in the lottery and potentially even win Bedard, Fantilli or Michkov. Who are all significantly better than Hoglander. I assume you have never heard of those 3 or have never seen them play.

Odds are extremely not good that the Canucks will win the lottery next year. They just picked 15th and had a 93 point season.

Hoglander meanwhile is 5th in his draft class in 5v5 points per 60 and has been a great driver of play.

Easily has top 6 upside possibly as soon as next year.

Even if the Canucks did value their 1st next year over Hoglander, they wouldn’t trade either piece fore a cap dump like ghallager

Lol we aren’t trading Hoglander for a cap dump just because we “could” win the draft lottery. Might as well trade away Elias Pettersson if we “could” draft Bedard. Don’t you see how flawed your argument is?

You calling Höglander a lesser prospect makes the entire deal irrelevant because you clearly can’t be bothered to do your research on other teams players. Hoglander is 21 years old and already has 2 years of experience playing in the Canucks top 9

I am just going to stop responding now cause I literally said 5 posts ago that I understand the deal doesn't work and I was just trying to get some Canucks fans perspectives. I got that, it does not work yet Canucks fans keep whining about it. Time to move on guys!
