Why does Carolina even consider that?

Well to get a young top 4 defenseman and a decent prospect plus a 2nd in a deep draft. Let’s not act like fabbro hasn’t been on Nashvilles top pairing this year and Carolina needs a rhd and has plenty of forward prospects to take necas’ spot. I thought I was helping both teams needs.

I don’t follow the Preds that much, so pardon me for not knowing that Fabbro was playing on the top pairing. So by your reasoning, since the Preds acquired McDonagh, Fabbro is replaceable. Fabbro really doesn’t produce much offense, and he has been playing with Josi, so I’m not totally sure that his numbers aren’t inflated.

As for Necas, he hasn’t hit his full potential yet, and when he does, he would be closer to 80+ point pace seasons. He was already on a 65+point pace for this season before his season took a turn for the worse. The Canes need offense, and that doesn’t seem to be Fabbro’s forte. I don’t think the Canes trade Necas for a dman who doesn’t produce much offensively and whose numbers could come into the question as being inflated.

I disagree and dont think you realize how hard it is on a defenseman to focus on anything other than than his defensive duties when playing with a rover defenseman like josi. Fabbro wasn’t really allowed to play that much of his offense when playing with josi but was by far a best right handed defensive defenseman on the team and that’s the reason he was paired with josi. If fabbro was paired with a more defensive defenseman like Ekholm his offensive numbers would of been a lot better like they were when he was playing at Boston u. Where he was known for his offensive game. I don’t think Poile will trade fabbro and I think will see what he can do offensively playing with Ekholm if mcdonagh is paired with josi. But the reason I made this trade is because we have a major hole on top 6 and I know necas would like to play center which would move granlund to his more comfortable position on the wing.

Im honestly surprised Fabbro is even available.

if Necas was available, this is the type of overpayment the Canes consider. Im dont think Nashville does though.

We’ll I don’t think he is or will be available I just know with the addition of mcdonagh we could move him for a top 6 player. The reason I picked necas is because I see this as a win win for both teams. Nashville gets their top 6 help even though it weakens their defense. But they currently have 5 top 4 defenseman on their team so if losing one for a young top 6 they might part with fabbro. Carolina gets a young top 4 defenseman that will be able to part of their top 4 for years to come. They might lose a good forward but looking at their forward prospects it wont be hard to replace his production
