Murray three-way trade and more

Description
Not the biggest fan of Matt Murray, but looks like we will be acquiring him. Källgren could be the backup, but in this scenario I've chosen to secure the position by adding Hill as the 1B. Don't love the options in free agency, so think this makes the most sense.

Moving Muzzin sucks, but might have to be done. Could be to any team that would be interested in his services. He would have to waive is NTC in order to facilitate a move. Thought Detroit seemed like a logical destination. Opens up a regular spot for Sandin and I'd expect him to come in at a very similar cap-hit to Liljegren. D-core looks set in terms of personnel, but the pairings could change. Rielly & Sandin will quarterback their own PP units while the others will play on the PK.

Puljujärvi seems to be available and he would fit in nicely here. Signing him & Rodrigues would give the Leafs some immense flexibility in terms of line-juggling. A spot will be open for Robertson in the top 9. Think he'll grab it with both hands. Kämpf & Engvall are an exceptional duo that dominates when they are out together. I believe Anderson complements them well. Although he only had a cup of coffee in the NHL this season, his results in terms of driving play with those two were really good.

    1. Muzzin, Jake
    Additional Details:
Detroit could really do with a veteran LD that can play in the top 4.

Oesterle, Walman & Juolevi aren't really good enough as a group imo. Edvinsson might crack the lineup and having someone like Muzzin there to help guide him would be useful.

Will need to waive his NTC for this to go through.

Pretty sure Edmonton wants a player that can play now and not a pick. Plus a late 2nd rounder wouldn't get it done for Puljujarvi. It is fascinating how Toronto wants Murray though.

You are probably right in Edmonton wanting a player for now. What the Leafs can offer is the 2nd and potentially another pick for Puljujärvi & then Edmonton using those assets to get a F.

Murray seems like such a risk to me.

Definitely a risk. The thought maybe that behind a good team he can regain his Stanley Cup form. Only time will tell

Red Wings do not want Muzzin. They need someone who can play with Seider. Last year that was 1/2 of Dekeyser, Leddy (who was not great) and Osterle. Stevie Y will not make the same mistake

I don't get that thought, since he was behind a solid team in 19/20 with Pittsburgh when this whole decline started, but I can totally see Dubas buying on the small sample size of last season when he was actually (surprisingly) very above average until he got lit up in the last two games that he played.

Worst case he stinks it up and is a very cheap buyout for the Leafs after this season (As long as he has been retained).

You might be right. I am just speculating obviously, but believe the fit is there. He is also a superior defenseman in comparison to DeKeyser, Leddy & Oesterle.

I disagree, don't think Muzzin has negative value. Can understand if the Wings aren't interested in the deal, but value-wise I think it is fair.

Which I believe that Pittsburgh team had a lot of issues with health overall. Didn't Murray get hurt that year as well?

Hes old, injury prone and has a big cap hit for multiple years. If anyone gives up anything to help the leafs cap issue and dman log jam they should be ashamed of themselves

You are only viewing from the perspective of ''helping the Leafs,'' not how it helps Detroit as well.

Again, not saying that the deal is a slam-dunk by any means.
