So buffalo gets nothing for retaining money for their rivals?

I see a 2023 2nd coming in which is pretty solid.

I think, since the Sens have the space, the more likely move is Ottawa retaining the first 50% and throwing a team like the Sabres a 4th for the $1.6Mish on the second retention.

Get a second rounder from the sens, three way trade.

That' $1.6Mish for 5mish years. Sabers better get more than 4th to carry that cap hit for years.

Murray's deal has 2x$6.25M left on it. If you want to make the 4th a 3rd, go for it, but I think that's as high as you'll really get for 2x$1.6M worth of retention.

I guess I'm confused still. Ok sabres get a 2nd but why is TML not paying anything

don't want to speak for OP but I assumed they were just showing Buffalo's side of the trade - Toronto would be sending Ottawa whatever return separately, this just showing the deal from Buffalo's perspective to add the retained cap hit & pick to the ACGM.
