Honestly, I think st Louis fans are gonna be really upset at the return on Tarasenko. It could be less than this IMO.
He's 30 on a 1-year deal and it basically sounds like he's not resigning in St Louis either way.
The fact that he had a great year last year only does so much for his value

The Blues don't need to trade Tarasenko. It's that simple.

We're looking to win now. There's absolutely no reason to take a massive downgrade to a 45 point winger for the sake of getting a second rounder.

That's completely fair. But be ready to lose him next year for nothing and have nothing to show for it. You still have a net gain in cap space in this proposed trade and will be able to upgrade other parts of the roster and your top 9 even without Tarasenko might still be top 5 in the league imo.
