Description
Trades speak for themselves.

Give Malkin the 4th year on his contract that Pittsburgh won’t give him. Malkin quoted as saying he’d like the opportunity to “pay it forward” and mentor a fellow Russian as Sergei Gonchar did for him. I have him lining up with two promising young Russians.

After spending most of his time in Carolina on their 4th line, domi is due for a pay cut. Low risk, high reward gamble signing him on a discount deal to reunite him with his Junior line mate-Horvat. Having Horvat on the 3rd line gives him more favourable matchups to get on the scoresheet.

Lockwood gets a chance to run around and hit people to attempt to fill the void left by shipping out Tyler Motte.

Don’t love Hoglander on the top line but he had some bright moments and if he can get some consistency in his game, could work well with countryman EP40

On the backend, Schneider could be long term solution for Hughes. Dermott, who wasn’t a jaw dropping talent, proved to be reliable playing a basic game, he’s rewarded with second line minutes allowing OEL to jump up into the play more frequently. Schenn, while a great partner for Hughes, drops to third pairing to mentor rookie Rathbone just as he did for Hughes.

Van has all of their picks going forward and lots of cap space for next year’s contract.

rangers definitely not interested in that. Schneider would never be involved for a 1 year rental

I assumed, as would most that any Miller trade would be contingent on him signing an extension. As you so aptly mentioned, not a large market for one year of Miller

Listen, im not one to say Schneider is this untouchable god some ranger fans treat him as. However, the NYR FO has a hard on for this guy, as does every team in the league bc he hits hard and has a great jaw. They'd trade him, but probably not for a rental, and definitely not in this package. Would I trade just Schneider and a 2nd for 1 year of miller? In a heart beat. But thats obviously not happening which is why I cant see the rangers doing this. Swap Nils in and Id buy it probably.
I appreciate you seeing that teams are tanking for this next draft and players will be had for cheaper than normal. If the rangers added miller but lost Igor to an injury in season, theyre going to be a lottery team, so I cant see them trading their first rd pick before the season starts

Not interested in Myers. After all the positive moves this off-season, moving picks for Myers might set the fan base off
