VAN
  1. Kostenko, Dmitri [Reserve List]
MTL
  1. DiPietro, Michael [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Simple struggling prospect swap. Habs get a goalie, Canucks get an RHD defender.
2.
VAN
  1. Lindström, Gustav
Additional Details:
I'm curious to know what Wings fans think of this swap.

Honestly, if it weren't for Hughes or OEL, Rathbone would have made the Canucks last season. The problem for the Canucks is they're loaded with offensively-minded defensemen, so Rathbone was the oddman out.

Seems like Lindstrom is kind of in the same spot behind Seider/Hronek. Wings are weaker on the left side, and Rathbone is primed to become a Top-4 PP specialist.

Detroit definitely has to add for Vancouver to consider that trade

Haha, as a fellow Canucks fan, definitely not. Gotta take those Vancouver homer glasses off.

Just because Vancouver doesn’t need lhd right now doesn’t mean we should just be giving them away.

This isn't giving Rathbone away. It's an equivalent swap; Lindstrom is the same age, played in the NHL last season, and is the exact type of defender the Canucks need right now.

I haven’t seen anything from lindstrom that makes me think he’d even make our team next year. Rathbone looked very good in his limited games last year and was over a ppg in the ahl while not being a train wreck defensively. We’re gonna have to agree to disagree on this trade

Yes, in limited games. But he's not going to see much ice time behind Hughes and OEL, especially on the powerplay.

Just because you don't pay attention to other teams' players doesn't mean that they're bad players. Overvaluing Canuck prospects will just lead to disappointment when they fail to make the NHL or get traded for less than you think they're worth.

Detroit passes. They don't have a have an RHD to replace Lindstrom and they have some very good LHD prospects.

I promise I know more about any player on any team than you do. But like I said we’re gonna have to agree to disagree

Wow, the ego on this guy.

I've seen your other comments, you've got homer goggles on hard. You've gotta take a step back and realize that the Canucks' don't have the greatest prospects to ever grace the NHL.

You seem like a 14-year-old kid, overconfident to the point of arrogance, unwilling to accept you might be wrong about something you're passionate about. I don't know, maybe you are 14. But if someone disagrees with your opinion, you shouldn't jump immediately to insults and claiming you know more than them. People don't do that. I'm trying to give you some perspective. Obviously, you're unwilling to accept that, but seeing things from outside the limits of the box you placed yourself in is a good thing. Hopefully, you are able to learn that sooner than later.

I literally said “we’re gonna have to agree to disagree on this” multiple times and you’re the one who didn’t wanna let it end at that, you’re the typical kid that loves to dish it out but can’t receive it. Anyways I’m not wasting my time with you anymore. Enjoy your night.

I understood that you had said that, I was providing context to the Rathbone and Lindstrom situation for others' reading the thread beyond what you had said originally. Regardless, it didn't warrant an immature response. You too.

Not sure why you think Kostenko is struggling, he put up 9 points in 7 MHL games last year and 14 points in 40 VHL games. 14 points in 40 games in a league the equivalent of the AHL for a 19 year old in his draft plus 1 year, is actually pretty good. BTW his draft year he put up 10 points in 40 VHL games so this year was actually a step forward not backwards.

As far as the trade goes Montreal has no need for DiPietro now that Monty and Primeau have QO's and our RD depth is pretty thin as well. All this to say Montreal passes.
