If Campbell was willing to sign that contract he’d still be a leaf and Chicago laughs at you for that offer. But Vancouver accepts.

Vancouver accepts, Not sure CHI would be willing to take that. We may not even be able to reach the floor if we don't take on more cap dumps and/or retain 50% on Kane.

Can't wait to see what the trade ends up as. I don't think Chicago gets a 1st. I'm guessing a good prospect and a 2nd.

Kane has an NMC. He gets to decide where he goes. Chicago isn't gonna get a great return for him. An unprotected Sabres 2023 pick would probably be the best thing the Hawks could get back in a trade. Sabres wouldn't do that though.

I agree chicago has no idea what they’re doing right now but Giroux literally got more than that offer for Kane at the deadline last year so I’m sure Kane will return more from a contender this year

True but if the rumours are true that kanes as mad as people say he is right now with what the hawks are doing then that won’t be a problem at all, he’d definitely choose a lot of places over Buffalo however and pretty much any team that thinks they’re a cup contender would give up the kitchen sink for probably the most clutch playoff performer to ever play the game.

Yes, but if what is reported holds any weight that he is only looking to be traded to NYR or BUF, chicago is seriously screwed.
That might not be accurate in which case I can see a trade with more juice.
But if it's buf bidding against nyr the. They aren't going to get much more

My thought process with Kane is he’d wanna go to a serious contender for this year then maybe sign a 1 or 2 year deal to chase more cups then go to Buffalo after that to finish his career at home when the sabres might be ready to compete

Chicago has literally no leverage. Kane decides where he wants to go. He can turn down any trade he wants. Nobody is giving up the kitchen sink for a rental with a big contract in that situation. Likely a 1st from a contender and a prospect.

That’s just not true. Giroux had all the power last year and returned a 1st a prospect and a 3rd while publically saying he only wanted to go to one team. Kanes better than giroux and Chicago can retain 50% when trading him

He got a protected 1st in 2024, a 2023 3rd, and Owen Tippett. The guy was 22 and had 94 games at that point. Not really a prospect. He couldn't get any of their decent prospects back. Flyers also sent them a 5th round pick.

Kane will get a similar return. Probably an actual decent prospect, but that's about it. Chicago has no leverage. People are dreaming if they think he's getting a haul back.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect atleast the equivalent of 2 1sts coming back for Kane

Buffalo: Kane Mrazek(50% retained)
Chicago: Vegas 2nd, Buff 2nd 2023, Johnson Portillo
Buffalo's 2nd can become a 1st if Kane hits certain marks, or in the little corner stuff you can't read, he resigns in Buffalo.

Even so, next year's draft is too good to ignore. Also Kane would be easier to get next year as a UFA

We would be below the cap floor with those moves but even if we weren't I wouldn't take that. We don't need to dump cap like Mrazek and we need a goalie and we need to be bad. Kane at 50% I believe will require a 1st. We see how much KD values 1sts so if I were a competing team I would be picking up the phone and offering my 1st on its own for Kane to feel out Davidson.

It's not Kane at 50%, it's Mrazek. But like I said before Kane holds the power, Davidson can't do anything unless Kane says yes.

Yeah thats what I mean, if his 10.5m comes off the books will make it tough to reach the floor unless we go on a spending spree or take on bad contracts.
