That Anaheim trade is so insanely busy. The retention makes no sense - Anaheim has more cap space than they know what to do with at this point, so saving them part of Muzzin's deal is unnecessary; and from the Toronto end, you're basically cancelling out the retention you have Anaheim offering on Shattenkirk's deal - Shattenkirk is owed $3.9M this season, you have him retained $1.4M so his hit is now $2.5M, but if you factor in the Muzzin retention from the deal it's actually back up to $3.625M. Congrats, you saved an extra $275K this year by retaining on both but added $1.125M to next year's cap for no reason.
I think you could probably build the deal as Muzzin for Shattenkirk with no retention to start - if Muzzin waives for SoCal, and if Anaheim is open for the deal, I think it's a starting point. Even if you think Muzzin has more value than Shattenkirk(debatable), adding Jacob Perrault, though, tilts this heavily in Toronto's favor. To use one point of reference - Scott Wheeler at the Athletic had the Ducks as a top 5 prospect pool this year, and Perrault as their 2nd best prospect. He's a 2020 1st rounder and had 37 points in 55 games as an underage player in the AHL this year, so the potential is strong here and Toronto needs to add a strong piece and--oh look, you brought Joey Anderson.
Look, I'm sure Joey's a nice guy, and he's not the worst player in the world, but Leafs fans have to give it up. He's 24, he's been most invisible in 58 NHL games to date (8-5-13 in 12:35 TOI so far) and he's got 50 goals and 93 points in 153 career AHL games. Can he make the leap? Sure, but decades of NHL history show us it's more likely he winds up a bottom 6 tweener who splits his time between the NHL and AHL. There are dozens of guys like this available every summer for the league minimum, so including him in a trade is less "here's a player who can make your team better!" and more "hey, have this thing i already have a few of and don't really need".
As far as the rest of the Anaheim trade, the fact that you have the Ducks giving up a 3rd & a 7th and only getting back a 5th *after* including Perrault is just silly. Easy pass from Anaheim.
The Vancouver trade is also not really anything to write home about. Garland is a decently productive player, profiling similar to Kerfoot but he's been a little more productive to date (including decent numbers on some bad Arizona teams) and he's 2 years younger and has term on a more or less fairly priced deal. Holl isn't really an attractive asset to a Vancouver team that has 9 D signed to NHL contracts for next season and has pretty hefty contracts for RDs Tyler Myers and Tucker Poolman already. Someone already roasted you for including Amirov, so I won't pile on too much but jesus, dude, I hope you just meant to click Mikhail Abramov and your finger slipped. Vancouver probably wants to keep Michael DiPietro as AHL depth for this point (they only have three goalies signed to pro contracts in their entire org right now and no one else that's in North America & AHL-eligible). Again, the picks are backwards here - I don't think Vancouver should be the one giving up a 2nd in this deal while only getting back a 3rd. Before the picks, the deal leaned slightly towards Toronto, and this tips it over.
