Description
I believe Montreal will move Petry before the start of the season. Not sure will he will go but some team who misses out on Klingderg will pay the price for an offensive d-man. Byron will start season on (LTIR). Hoffman and Drouin will be moved and my have to eat some salary for these two to be moved. Dadonov will be moved at trade deadline. The big question is surrounded Price, if he stays healthy, he will be moved to a team of his choice to try and win a Cup. Stay tuned too see what happens in Montreal

If you're trying to trade, as you put it, an "offensive Dman" Edmonton is probably one of the worst destinations for him. Right now they already have Cody Ceci/Tyson Barrie/Evan Bouchard signed for RD next season, so Petry is an unnecessary luxury. I also don't think they'd give up one of their top prospects *plus* a 2nd and a 4th in a deal for him.

Going to need to retain some salary in that Jake Allen deal to the Rangers, at least 50%, and even then not sure you will get a 3rd for a back-up keeper.

Agree.

Further to the point, I think Petry is going to be tougher to move than people think.

UFA market is rather deep on the right side, as is a possible trade market. For what Petry does, it is a great contract, but in a tight cap world, teams may opt for grade B options to save a few million.

Only really obvious fit I see for him is Dallas right now, and frankly, I don't see Nill making that big a deal for a team that is clearly in transition.

The Jackets, if they believe they can challenge for a playoff spot would be a secondary option, but I think Jarmo is going to stick to the youth movement there and let it percolate.

Short of retaining a large portion of Petry's contract (which I wouldn't do), it's a tougher move.
