It’s only one year tho and JVR is still an ok player. You could probably get a second or a third for him.

From who? no one who is willing to pay can afford him. He had a horrible year this year. Johnny is available now, not next year so if they need to do it to sign him for the next 7 years they do it. Not saying its right but its the chuck fletcher motto

There is no way the Flyers trade a pick that has potential to be the #1 overall pick to clear cap space in a down year.

I would be ok with the Weegar deal, its basically a second and spare parts. Thats a good deal for a top 4 RHD. I think the panthers would quality not quantitiy thought.

Your trade is dumb. Deal with it.

A player for a 1st pick is not equivalent to trading a player and a pick for NOTHING.

Ryan Johnson isn’t spare parts. I guess if you are worried he won’t sign that’s a different issue. But at that point I’d try and trade him for someone of similar value who is the same age

Honestly I wonder what else was going into that deal. After the DeBrincat trade I wonder how reliable that report was.

He is a spare part to the Sabres, he won't sigh because they have 5 LHD ahead of him on the Org Chart, which is why he wont sign.

Well it was reported by multiple insiders as well pierre dorian said chicago was willing to do the deal with 16 as well

Is that supposed to change my mind that your trade is dumb? Because it doesn't. Philly will have a chance to be #1 overall. They will not trade that pick to get rid of JVR. As bad of a contract as it is, it only has 1 year left, JVR scored 24 Goals last season. Murray has 2 years left at 6ish Million. I dont care about Ottawa but it appears they avoided making a horrible deal and made a pretty good one in trading Murray to TOR.

Again your trade is bad, it makes no sense. Thank you for your time.

No that’s not what I mean. I meant to ask if there were other assets in the trade going to Ottawa. I didn’t know one way or the other but it wouldn’t shock me if there was draft capital heading back to Ottawa in the deal.

Easy solution is to guarantee him nhl playing time. Bryson and Samuelson aren’t better than him. It’s only Dahlin and Power, and I could see Dahlin playing his off side next year depending on how this off season goes.

Maybe Sabres could trade him for Nils Lundkvist. I don’t think Johnson would have any issues signing with the Rangers. I’d honestly be surprised if the Sabres can’t figure out how to get him under contact or get fair value for him via trade. I’m a big fan of his tbh.

Yeah tbh I am a fan of trading him. If you want an easy route to the nhl and are afraid of competing for a spot odds are you arent going to be successful. Hes a cali guy so likely trade him to anaheim so his dad can make sure he makes the team

Sometimes the media pushes a narrative that isn’t accurate. I don’t buy the idea Johnson is afraid or competition and I think he would come to Buffalo. I’m willing to bet a deal could’ve been made last year if the Sabres had been willing to let him burn a year.

Yeah well I would be disappointed if that were the case because I dont think he will be a guy who breaks the bank in 2 years anyways. Honestly has a chance to be the 6th d this year if he so wanted

I would take it if it was the 2024 Florida 1st, a 2023 1st in a cap dump is unheard of

Yeah unheard of because we are less than a week from the 2022 draft, you will see it, make it top 2 protected i guesssssssssss, I just have a feeling philly is going to be terrible again and chuck fletcher will find a way to screw it all up
