Very unrealistic scenario that brings in Sean Couturier and moving out Nylander

Created by: jchafe77
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 12, 2022
Published: Jul. 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade is probably undervalued, but I wonder if Couturier soon wants out of Philly because of their rebuild. Does he want to be apart of the process?

The Isles should be all over that if that's the asking price for Nylander.

Trade low on Nylander, to spend big time on Couts?

It's hard to say "they're in a rebuild" when their GM refuses to do so...looks reasonably likely that they'll make a hard run at Gaudreau as well.

Nylander is too skilled and fast for the isles. His ability to score goals doesn’t fit the Isles system lol.

If that's all you're asking for for Nylander, I'm sure Lou will save you a nickel on the extra phone call and throw you a 5th for Holl to replace Mayfield at RD3. But I think you can probably do better for a guy like WIllie.

Lou doesn’t seem like he wants to trade Varly and I’m willing to bet that logic extends to Mayfield. He cares more about being able to prevent goals than scoring them. I think Lou believes that having a better blue line will fix their scoring issues. I’m not saying he’s right, just how he has operated in NY so far.

you have a gm who traded a first for ristolainen and then resigned him and gave away the captain for nothing, wont be that hard

Scoring is overrated. Honestly I think Lou is just gonna hope Wally takes a step forward under Lambert lol. And if Bellows and Beauvillier play well then he’s gonna take credit for that too lmao.

What is everyone's obsession with Rasmus Sandin, guy hasn't done **** yet and he's the centerpiece in a trade for a guy who's been almost a point per game player the last 5 years and is a perennial Selke nominee. Leafs fans are laughable man.

something a fan of a team who cant score would say, you can let 8 goals in and win the game but you cant win by scoring 0

i would do that trade 100 times before doing that Matt Murray trade, at least Romanov is 22 and has actually looked decent over the past 2 seasons

Not really the asking price. I was just moving his contract to have a better idea on the cap space for Couturier. Toronto probably asks for Kiefer Bellows as well or something totally different then what I got there

I think Beau and Wally can/will produce at a higher level next year. Bellows will too if he gets time. And I’m not tremendously worried about Palmieri or Bailey cause they finished strong last year. I’m not thrilled with the isles forward core but there isn’t anyone I hate either.

He's also said in the past he wants to add a scorer, and has pursued Panarin and Stone when they were available. With Romanov added, the Isles' top 4 is locked in for the foreseeable future, so Mayfield, who's only going to be getting 3rd pair minutes on Long Island, may be expendable in a hockey trade.

I'd gladly add Bellows to that trade and still jump all over it.

I hate when Lou says hockey trade lol. He def wants a scorer but I don’t c it happening cause Dobson will cost a **** ton this summer and then they have to pay up for Barzal and maybe Wahlstrom next year.

Bellows was on pace for 35 points in 82 games. Meanwhile his shooting percentage was under 10%, he got low TOI and he played most of his minutes with Austin Czarnik lmao.

That’s not that big of a spend on Coots.. I think Nylander gets a better return and coots costs more… probably package Nylander ++ for Coots, might be easier
