Konecny isn't getting THREE high end assets, that's silly.

Value isn’t far off, maybe a 3rd instead of a 2nd

Savoie posted similar NHLe's in NCAA as Caufield did. It's not close. Edmonton can get a better player in free agency for less money without having to give up anything.

Everyone says that but the market is drying up and I doubt any of these guy go at this price… and the NCAA doesn’t mean much doing it in pros is different. I had Caufield pegged as a stud during his draft and wanted Philly to draft him. We got York. I was pissed… his accuracy is insane, him and Savoie are not the same imo

Case in point: they just signed Kane for $5.125M x 4. He's better than Konecny and didn't cost them 3 high end assets. Rumour has it they're in on Marchment and that the contract will be under $4M. Marchment > Konecny this year.

Nobody has had a closer career path and result to Caufield than Savoie. His shot is incredible and has never been in doubt. Read the scouting reports from his draft year, he probably has the best shot in his draft.

Edmonton's not doing this trade. They have better and cheaper options elsewhere.

Kane and a guy who is 27 and has 90 NHL games played are both high risk high reward players.

Not sure what makes Savoie the most like Caufield in terms of career path. Brink as well had very similar NCAA numbers, a teammate of Savoie no less, not going to assume Brink is going to be the next Caufield.

Brink isn't close when it comes to goal scoring.

Draft +1 NHLe
Savoie: 19 goals
Caufield: 14
Brink: 14

Draft+2 NHLe
Caufield: 26 goals
Savoie: 21
Brink: 5

2-season Average NHLe
Savoie: 20 goals
Caufield: 20
Brink: 8

In draft+3, Caufield scored at a 28 goal pace in the NHL while Brink recorded 12 goals NHLe in college and had 0 goals in 10 NHL games. Savoie hasn't started his D+3 season yet.

There's nothing to indicate that Brink is going to become the next Caufield, so you're wise to not assume any such thing.

Brink missed like 60% of year 2 so this is just insane to calculate and pretend it is a fair comparison

Just watch them play a bit… neither has the shot accuracy and release of Caufield

It's based on goals per game, so missing time doesn't alter the outcome. And I posted his D+3 goals too, which were decidedly underwhelming. He's not in the conversation, but Savoie is.

Savoie had 65 points in 63 games
Brink had 93 points in 84 games

I was specifically talking about goal scoring and you know it. You're being deliberately obtuse now. And Brink didn't play 84 games in between his D+1 and D+2 seasons anyhow.

Why are you talking about just goal scoring? That makes very little sense

Also, these stats are just random to compare to Caufield. If you’re talking just goals CC had 49 in 67, CS had 36 in 63… it’s not that close honestly…

Savoie played in a harder conference. The level of competition makes a big difference. NHLe takes this into account.

Lol, I mean, Cole does more than just score but neither of these guys are gonna score like Cole… that kids shot is just a beauty…

But who plays in a harder conference? Brink and Savoie are teammates lol

NCHC is a tougher conference than Big-10. NHLe takes that into account. Hence:

Draft +1 NHLe
Savoie: 19 goals
Caufield: 14
Brink: 14

Draft+2 NHLe
Caufield: 26 goals
Savoie: 21
Brink: 5

2-season Average NHLe
Savoie: 20 goals
Caufield: 20
Brink: 8

In draft+3, Caufield scored at a 28 goal pace in the NHL while Brink recorded 12 goals NHLe in college and had 0 goals in 10 NHL games. Savoie hasn't started his D+3 season yet.

Yup, and Savoie has a great shot too. But you don't have to take my word for it.

A good skater who possesses a wicked shot. Savoie seems to have the puck on a string and he is always looking to attack offensively. - Dobber

Savoie has an excellent arsenal of shots and a deceptively quick release. His wrist shot and snapshot are both hard and accurate. He also has a very good one-timer. Savoie can even be effective on the backhand. - Lastwordonsports

... he’s been a proven goal-scorer at every level; in his draft year, he scored 53 goals in 54 games with the Sherwood Park Crusaders in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL)... Savoie had a fabulous freshman year at the University of Denver and showed his innate ability to put the puck in the net, registering 12 goals and seven assists in 22 regular-season games. He led all rookies in shots (77), game-winning goals (3) and was named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team. - The Hockey Writers

I’ll be honest, I’ve never heard of NHLe, I usually use Dobber, elite prospects, etc… mainly I just give them the eye test which is usually about 90% accurate… but almost every NHL scout, Dobber, Elite prospects, etc… had Brink higher than Savoie

Truth is, nothing is 100%, jusr should wait and see I guess
