Engvall I think is sniffing 2+ mil. Don't like it either but seeing what is being paid these days he might. Douglas I think takes the step this year if not another plug can.

Hes a RFA and his QO is 1.25M, we could sign much better players for 2M+ (ZAR, Stastny, Heinen)

man -nobody- liked the term on that deal and everyone is assuming he spends the last 2 years of it in LTIRetirment. Signing a guy over 35 to big term is a hell of a gamble to take and not one I'd want to make if I was a Maple Leaf team that already had a handful of borderline-unmovable contracts

He's not over 35 he will be 34 when signing

splitting hairs - he'll turn 35 around game 10 of the first season of his extension (his birthday is 11/19/88). so yes, you avoid the 35+ designation if you extend him, but you're literally only getting about of month of him not being over 35 on whatever contract you give him.
