That's a trade the Pens are not looking to make right now. They do not have the ability to take on an extra 2.4 million in cap.

Apparently they want more scoring, and want to trade a LD
It at least makes sense

They can find someone better and cheaper than Gallagher to achieve that.

Everyone not named Montreal declines.

Poolparty is 8 years younger than Hoffman, cheaper, and comparable production. That’s a big downgrade for Edmonton. I guess if Edmonton got desperate for a goalie, Allen could be a target?

Jets give up the two best players in the deal (PLD and Schmidt) and get older and worse players on awful deals. Petry, Anderson, and Dvorak are all decent players for the middle of a lineup, but those contracts kill their value. You’re not going to find a team that will take $16M of contracts off your hands, they’re definitely not going to give up their 24 year old 1C, a top 4 defenseman, and a top prospect while doing so.

Why would the Pens take on an extra $2.4M this year and an extra 4 years of Gallagher at $6.5? That contract needs a lot of retention to be moveable.

None of these trades make sense at all.

I don’t get why any of the other teams do this, especially Winnipeg. Why would they give up PLD for that, let alone add a top prospect in Lucius?

The point is
Allen = Puli
Hoffman = Barrie

Petry > Schmidt
Dubois + Lucius = Dvorak + Anderson + Mysak

Because they want a forward, and they want to trade a defender

You are overvaluing your teams players by a ton. All of those contracts are garbage.
