This just came out of the blue. So much for trying free agency.

I did not expect this at all, good deal. Geno on year 4 probably doesn't do as well as his money will be but it's well worth it.

I voted no because of the cap hit. Gotta leave room for the younger players if the Pens don't want to go down the same route as late-stage post 2009 detroit

Look it's not a good contract but the Pens are clearly going all-in for 3 seasons then saying "F it it's time to get another couple of generational talents." And if you're giving Rakell 6 years you should definitely give Malkin, a club legend whose number will hang in the rafters, another contract

That is not a bad number for the aav but probably a year too long. But they are clearly not going to still be pushing by year 4 so the term does not really matter.

It does allow them to do some stuff tomorrow if they are going to be moving one of the d that everyone keeps saying will get moved.

Good job Lindsay.

Honestly Geno in anything other than a black-and-gold 71 would be sacrilege. The league is a better place with Sid and Geno together forever.

If he can stay healthy- this is one of the best value contracts in the league.

Once again who cares about the term. This team is gonna be god awful in a few years anyways and will need to reach the floor. Plus as I mentioned regarding the Letang contract, the last year of Genos deal could very well be LTIR.

Hextall had 4 key FAs this year and brought them all back at a combined discount. Good work.

Yup. And my answer to that is who cares? Be horrible for a couple years, draft elite talent in the top 3, rinse, and repeat.

Pretty good value, the term is a bit long, just think about it he'll be 39 when his contract ends.

That is great thinking. But what will you do with all these deals. And then Crosby in 3 years probably won’t be much either.

They’ll help us get to the floor and still provide veteran leadership for any top prospects we inevitably pick
