Leafs 2022-2023

Created by: TJClutch
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 12, 2022
Published: Jul. 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Keeps the core intact while changing things up within the bottom 6. Like Muzzin and the bigger body he brings, he just isn't worth his contract IMO. We have both Sanding and Lily that r looking for full-time spots and Muzzin just felt like the easiest contract to trade. May have to add more to the VAN trade but I feel like it's a decent baseline.

You need to give up quality assets to acquire quality players. Vancouver doesn’t need Holl or Kerfoot, both are rentals and cap dumps to Vancouver. A 2024 first and 2025 fifth is just insulting. You basically gave up a better package to acquire Nick Foligno for 10 games

Prob not since it seems Palat is heading to FA, but I had some wishful thinking there.

Kerfoot is a 50pt player and Holl, despite all that's said, is a solid defenseman. I said I realized Toronto would need to add more, but Kerfoot certainly isn't a cap dump.

Baseline is there, just gotta tweak a couple of things:

Kerfoot for Robinson
Holl for Niemela
'24 1st for '23 1st
'25 4th for '23 3rd

Should be good after that.

That could be done too. Idk if Dubas would trade Niemela away tho.

Marchmant and Strome will ask for more, but that's ok since we have another 2.5M to play with.

Holl is NOT a solid D man. used to be for sure, but i never wanna see that guy in blue and white ever again

He's slow and gives the puck away more often than not, but he's what fixed our PK in the playoffs against Tampa, and as a 3rd pairing he's not bad.
Like Holl had more Takeaways with only a bit more Giveaways than Jake Muzzin, plus used the body more than Muzzin, the guy we're paying 5.5M.
