Nice Move

Created by: BruinsFan35
Team: 2022-23 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 13, 2022
Published: Jul. 13, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I’ve always like Zacha, and with Krejci coming back, Haula has no spot. Hopefully a new system and some leadership around him can get some of Zachas potential out of him. Bruins betting on themselves a little with this love, and I’m all for it.

Devils won the trade but Zacha will fit well in Boston, I like that trade for the B’s

Im guessing Haula would be 3C for us.

Devils get a little more experience down the middle, Bruins get some secondary scoring on wing.

Seems like an even swap to me.

Wonder if NJD is moving Jesper Boqvist now….

Agreed I think that right now the Devils get the better player. That’s why I mentioned that the Bs are betting on themselves. They probably see potential with Zacha and are trying to get something more out of him.

Zacha will most likely have the same role (#3 LW) but I hope he signs for similar AAV (or less) than Haula.

Don't move Boqvist. He was a .5 point per game player to end the season and started flashing potential. Doubt you'll get much for him anyway. Better to keep the player.

Probably. He’s very good defensively and is apparently a good locker room guy. Devils probably view him as a useful locker room guy. He also has LW flexibility so maybe he could crack top six there? Either way, a nice grab for the Devils.

Fair for both teams but I think Boston won by a little since Zacha is younger

I didn’t mean dump him…I meant as trade chip for bigger piece. Teams saw what he did in second half and a cheap, speedy 3C could be in high demand.

If NJ now has Hughes, Hischier, Haula, McLeod down the middle (and two centers in Merced and Sharangovich on the wing). Boqvist could be sold in package for winger.

Zacha's younger but I think Haula's better - I'd call it as close to even as you'll see around these parts

You need depth and he's cheap, awesome depth. If he's the difference in a better package then fine but I'd rather keep him.

We had been expecting around $3m to $4m over 3-5 years. So small uptick maybe. Am guessing he probably will play mostly LW and sub in at center or RW when needed. He provides a lot more offensive from the wing…roughly 0.7ppg from wing and a little under 0.4ppg from center.

I am with you. But a lot of teams want cheaper players…and most our low-AAV players are guys we shouldn’t move.

I imagine someone else gets moved out as we still need to make room for Holtz and/or Zetterlund. Mango maybe now that his bonus is paid.

Boston get's a big body, decent skill player who is 6 years younger and can possibly still improve his game given the right circumstances. It's a no brainer for me. Well done DS.
