This contract could age REALLY BADLY for the Oilers and if things start poorly, then the locker room is going to turn toxic by Christmas.

That's silly. The Oilers were in the toilet last Christmas and the locker room wasn't toxic.

The locker room wasn't a happy place. There were grumblings about McDavid and Draisaitl being very unhappy about the team's progress. Add KANE into that mix and that's not a good situation.

Nobody is happy with losing, but it was never toxic. And they DID add Kane to that locker room - did you forget? And the results were amazing.

Yeah, Kane is always amazing, to start. That's the problem. He quickly turns toxic.

I'm saying with the relatively minor problems they had before, plus Kane, a really slow start could go south very quickly.

Massive upgrade on Smith and Koskinen. Don't think he's a game changer, but it gives Edmonton stability for 5 years, something they finally needed.

Terrible Leafs defense will do that to you. The fact that he still put up .914 SV% after those last 25 games show how good his season truly was.

Add another ex Leaf name onto the Cup, after Kadri, Schenn, McElhinney, Bozak, Kessel, Kaberle, etc.....

Still thinking the leafs defence is bad is just outing yourself as someone who doesn't watch hockey and just parrots out of date narratives

Or I watch the games and look at the analytics and see that they match up?

Games and analytics both have the leafs as solid
You're either lying or unable to properly assess or both.

Loved the man but there is some huge risk to this deal

His health and age being big factors

Also consistency for him as man despite knowing he played through an injury it was tough to watch sometimes

P.S: Definitely not tampering am I right wink

Dubas L

Lol what? It could very well give Edmonton a boat anchor contract... More likely that than "stability"

How can you say Dubas L for bringing Campbell in, getting good goaltending from him for 2.5 seasons and then not signing him for a crazy contract?

During the team's exit interviews, every member of the Oilers wanted Kane to return. You can quit with the fear-mongering regarding Kane's impact on the locker room.

I'm not even sure what purpose that topic has in regards to the Oilers having signed Campbell.

I'm not in love with the Murray deal. I am optimistic he will bounce back, but it was the retention that I thought should have been more.
Nonetheless... Its the term that is the risk with Campbell's deal.
He has robust injury history with very limited history as a starter...
The contract takes him from 30-36 years old...

I would be shocked if this deal worked out for the Oilers which is why Dubas was prudent not to make an emotional/irrational decision trying to re-sign him

This is why you don't make a 5 year decision based on half a season, kids.

THEY WERE WINNING! Kane is fine, while the team is winning. He becomes toxic very quickly when the team starts losing.

If Campbell starts this season as cold as he finished last season, then Edmonton could be in real trouble. If this happens, the locker room will turn toxic by Christmas.

You just sound scorned at this point. Nothing you're presenting is based in fact.

Kane's supposedly toxic unless he's winning? A 32-game sample dictates that Campbell is going to be the downfall of the Oilers through the New Year?

I'm fundamentally disinterested in what you're hoping to add to this conversation, as it's exclusively your imagination. Dislike the signing, dislike the Oilers even, but stooping to the point of trolling for the sake of it is ridiculous.

I'm not trolling. I'm presenting facts that you don't like.

1.) Kane is toxic. This has been true on every team he has played on. It doesn't happen right away, but it has happened every single time. This is a fact.
2.) Campbell had six good weeks last year and was a negative in the Goals Saved Above Expected both during the regular season as a whole and during the playoffs. This is also a fact.
3.) I'm a Canucks fan. Demko and Martin were a combined ~20 Goals Saved Above Expected. We don't need a goalie. We need better D-men. I didn't want the Canucks to Kane or Campbell.

Good deal. I'm not sure why Toronto didn't match this. It's a fair deal if you ask me.

The early returns look bad, and I’m glad Toronto went the way they did as far as goaltending goes. Well, at least for Samsonov. Still think Murray was a stupid idea but time will tell.
