Was this a good signing?

The early returns look bad, and I’m glad Toronto went the way they did as far as goaltending goes. Well, at least for Samsonov. Still think Murray was a stupid idea but time will tell.

We dont even know what Murray's gonna do hes played 1 game and it was when the team decided to be ass cheeks

If they play like they did this week he might end up being the perfect 1b for us as with Sammy taking over the starting job thats motivation to go I want that gimmie and play his best hockey

Well we won’t know for a little bit longer but I’m not expecting him to do much. I hope he proves me wrong but I don’t think he will.

Murray at 4.8 x 2 is better than Campbell at 5 x 5, but the preferable option would've been neither, honestly.

So when the Leafs and Campbell were discussing a potential renewal, Elliotte Friedman indicated there was a big gulf between what Campbell thought he was worth and what Toronto thought he was worth.

the one thing about Campbell that's really interesting is... it ended really badly between him and toronto. And not just because of the contract talks, we've gone in depth on the contract talks. How the two sides were miles apart. I've heard there were things that were said that both sides weren't happy with. And so Campbell who has a reputation for being a genial nice guy, is angry about his things were left

Digging into his stats, you can see why from the Toronto perspective. His monthy splits show that a lot of his season rode off of the November performance; and his GSAX according to sites like MoneyPuck and NaturalStatTrick put him in the negatives, meaning he let in more goals than he was expected to. Not abysmal, but hardly worth a 5 million dollar salary.

He's obviously capable of much better performances that what he's provided in his short Oilers tenure, but his confidence can't be too high and instead of having Muzzin, Brodie, Holl and Liljegren in front of him he's got guys like Ceci, Barrie and Kulak bumbling around. Getting around the 0.900 mark would be fine considering McDavid and Drai are able to win games for the team outright.

Massive upgrade on Smith and Koskinen. Don't think he's a game changer, but it gives Edmonton stability for 5 years, something they finally needed.

Waived after 41 starts. So much stability.
