Tampa doesn't usually overpay like this. What's happening down there?

Well, so much for our pipe dream that Sergachev could be the good young #1 left defenseman Rob Blake said that we were interested in acquiring. We probably couldn't have afforded anything over $6 million, and Florida is a no-state-income-tax jurisdiction.

What Tampa is doing in this offseason with tons of 8 years contracts and overpayment? I think they don't want to win cups anymore.

Mikhail Sergachev: 8 years, 8.5M per year (68M overall)
Anthony Cirelli: 8 years, 6.25M per year (50M overall)
Eric Cernak: 8 years, 5.2M per year (41.6M overall)

TBL just sunk over $150,000,000 into 3 players in the span of 10 minutes.

I don't think so. This is market value for this dude. He is amazing. #1 Dman on so many teams.

Put it this way: are you comfortable with Sergachev playing Hedman's minutes? If not, then he shouldn't have hit anything close to this.

If his QO was north of $7M, I'd have signed him to a 1-2 year at that, or even this number. But to go 8 years on a guy likely playing most of those on your 2nd pair? That's too much.

I am, he played the opposite minutes all playoffs. Seemed like if Hedman wasn't on they would put Sergachev on and they where very close.

Unless they were down in which case both would play together.

gonna look like the Maple Leafs soon enough if you pay everyone 8 million

Hard to look like the Leafs when you're paying guys who have actually accomplished something

Why if you compare him to Hedman at the same points in careers Sergachev has been better

Terrible contract, this isn’t going to age well.

He's going to be 33 when it ends. He's 24 if You compare 18-24 Victor Hedman to 18-24Mikhail Sergachev Sergachev has better numbers. Much rather give a 24 year old 8 yeats than a 27-28 year old pay for his prime years this will look like a great contract in 3 years.
