Tampa's just writing 8 years on the contract and they leave the AAV be decided by the player today it seems.

Tampa is literally playing franchise mode with salary cap off, Like how can they afford this? Is Stammer going to be traded?

I thought for sure at least one of Cirelli, Sergachev, or Cernak would be moved and not re-signed long-term. How much longer does the team honestly think their contention window will be open for?

Cernak is underratedly important to Tampa. Top tier shutdown defender. Plays the hardest comp every night and crushes. 5 mil for that is perfectly reasonable. He's only 25 so the term isn't crazy

They've got 8 forwards, 3 D, and 1 goalie signed for next season, along with Ross Colton/Philippe Myers/Cal Foote's RFA rights, with $4.5M in cap space based on a $83.5M cap. Even if you sign each of those super cheap (like, to $1M cap hits) you still only have 9 F/5 D/1G and only enough money to sign 2 minimum contracts. Someone big is moving out of Tampa within the net year.

Actually a great contract. He's a mid pairing defender and this is their going price.
