tbh Kuemper-Samsonov would have made a serviceable tandem had they wanted to do that, but no, they decided to let Sammy walk.

I was expected him to be paid more. Not a lot more, but closer to $6 million.
Age is an issue, but I will still call this a win.

woof, surprised at that AAV. Gonna be fascinating comparing how his and Campbell's contracts play out, feels like this kind of ties them together in a way.

Should be good, but he's not worth 5 years
Brings a solid goalie to a place where there hasn't been stability since the cup run

Rather have him than Campbell or Murray.

Should still be a decent 1A/1B when he turns 37.

gives them some stability during the last contending years of Ovie...although i dont think theyre really that close.

their D isnt near what Colorados is, so his numbers might take a hit, and the last 1 or 2 years might be regrettable.

Fucale > imo and Samsonov will cost 3x more than him. Letting him walk for free was dumb but keeping him wasnt an option

Fucale saves them 2x - 3x the money ( likely 2 million) and hes a comparable goalie. no reason to keep either since we have a true #1 now.

well it gives them a chance to compete with ovi, and then they both age together and fall off a cliff while still getting paid

This looks like fantastic value considering what Campbell signed for. He's a top 10 goalie and making the 13 most at his position, below Elvis, Grubauer, Binnington, and Murray, and above Lehner, Ullmark, Peterson, Campbell.
Arguably he's the best in that whole group and by a decent margin.

Need a third option: okay signing. He was the only option basically, but 1 year too long and slightly too much money.

Fucale is the better option for backup, cheaper than Vanecek and Sammy were going to be and performed better in a small sample size.
