Yet fans everywhere are cool with Nichushkin signing for 8x$6.25 after having 52 points this season when his previous high was 29 points in his rookie year (8 years ago)

Big difference is that you're signing Nuke to stay with the team and system he just had his career year with, so he's set up to continue succeeding.

Marchment had a career year and moved to a new org - so it's a bit more of an uphill climb to recreate the situation he was in. Not saying it's impossible, but why the Nuke signing isn't as red flag-y to me.

Except this was Nuke’s 3rd year in Colorado and he still didn’t break 30 points until this past season. He’s also about to turn 28 and signed an 8 year deal. One can argue that analytics is overrated as well. Fact still remains that he produced double what he’s done over an 8-9 year career in a contract year. History shows that players like that generally go back to what their career average was instead of being what their one year outlying year was.

WTF Jim Nill? This is the most Dallas Stars FA signing possible. Take a risk on the biggest "what if" UFA for a top 6 spot. IF he replicates last season, then it works out great. But if he doesn't, then this contract is gonna suck. Nill is gonna Nill. To be honest, would have rather seen him sign Perron for the contract he got from Detroit instead. $250k/yr more but a 2 year deal. Just enough time before Stankoven can step into top 6 minutes.

Last year's 18 goals are his most since he played in the Ontario junior hockey league in 2013/14, ie the league below the OHL.

His 47 points are his most ever on a league tracked by hockeydb
