Are Pens looking to dump salary for a signing or get NHL players back?

would you guys fall into the "forwards" or "futures" categories, in a trade?

I could see it as a bold dorion move to trade your first rounder. Would pretty much be him putting his balls on the line and saying "this pick is basically going to be a second rounder when we win the cup" lolll.

futures most likely, considering we already traded connor brown. him or joseph woulda been available earlier today, but now i think our top 9 is set. any picks and any prospects not name greig, thomson, or sogaard are probably on the table. i doubt the 1st gets moved though

pens just have too many bodies. 9 dmen who are legit NHL caliber options. We need to move one of the lefties to make room for POJ, for sure.

There are two scenarios: we trade them for futures and use the cap space in free agency, or we trade them straight up for forwards.

So to answer your question, pens are looking to get NHL players whether that be in the actual trade or through FA after the trade. But before you ask, I don't know if puljuarvi is the answer if we sign kapanen, they seem like similar options in terms of skillset and career spot. Maybe im wrong though

A trade for the first would probably marino + a small asset. Like maybe marino + a 3rd.

IDK, hextall has a fetish for 1st round picks and I could see him making it happen, even if it meant adding a fair amount. Marino is the one of the 3 that doesnt need to be moved, so ottawa doesnt have a ton of leverage.

What would be your offer?

thats pretty solid value man. If hextalls first rounder fetish was unquenchable we could probably package those assets to move up in this upcoming draft. I would accept it on a couple conditions: we are unable to swing a trade for miller or garland or some other solid top 6 forward, and there is still a solid forward option available in free agency like D strome or nino nideriter
Alfie11 liked this.
