If we trade Brannstrom+Zaitsev for Chychrun or Weegar (obv Zaitsev not to Florida) I wouldn’t hate if the Sens offer sheeted Sandin for 1x4.2 lol, might as well give the Leafs some headaches and while we’d probably have him on the 3rd pair, he’d be fighting with Sanderson for top 4 time and could realistically win that battle, at least next year.

Ottawa needs a 2 year Dman like Tanev or Martinez . If you acquire another core defender, then one of those 3 things has to happen:

1) No Cat
2) Stutzle bridge
3) Zub walks

I think a Stutzle bridge is likely at this point, and I don’t hate it. The cap is gonna jump like 10mil prior by 2025, so we’ll basically have all that extra room to sign him and Sanderson long term at that point. Everyone else is locked up for decent term (Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, Chabot).

He has 1 year left, the Drouin experiment has not worked at all, he’s gone either by trade or FA

**** off. Since the habs aren’t enjoyable to watch or cheer for amymore, I’m fine with it if Jo wants to go elsewhere, but I doubt that’s be the case since he’s from Québec. So keep him in Montréal for the rest of his career.

There’s no space for him to stay in MTL for the rest of his career, habs have way too many wingers coming up

There's a slight irony, I think I had a discussion in these forums with someone (I actually think it was BeterChiarelli ) like couple of months ago that Matheson for Petry trade makes a great deal of sense.

It was. Didn't think they'd pull the trigger with Letang but being right a mile out is still a pretty wizard feeling.

Gzuz christ Bergevin's drafting and/or youth development has been absolutely terrible

I'm a massive Drouin to Arizona advocate.

He has great skillset but he's no good at dealing with immense pressure, so he doesn't fit to play in a hockey environment like Montreal.

I remember earlier today when I proposed a Habs trade for Matheson and got barked at saying “Habs don’t need LD!”

Good times

You know what I respect the Pittsburgh Penguins game plan.

The quoted comment I like is “so what we’re old” type mentality.

They’re going for it and you honestly can’t say they’re a bad team at their peak play.

Not great in the first round but definitely the best team and drafting late round gems

Hurricanes:
2005: Jack Johnson (yes, that Jack Johnson). Never played a game for Carolina before being part of the Tim Gleason trade
2007: Brandon Sutter. Played several years with the Canes before being part of the Jordan Staal trade in 2012
2008: Zack Boychuk. Waiver fodder in just a few years
2009: Phillipe Paradis. Never played a game in the NHL
2010: Jeff Skinner. Played great in Carolina before being traded to Buffalo for the pick that became Pyotr Kochetkov
2011: Ryan Murphy. Carolina simply could not develop this guy and he was traded for almost nothing in 2017
2013: Elias Lindholm. Decent, then involved in the Dougie Hamilton trade
2014: Haydn Fleury. Another player that Carolina did not develop properly. Traded in 2021 for rental Jani Hakanpaa
2015: Noah Hanifin: Same as Lindholm
2016: Jake Bean. Same situation as Fleury, traded for the picks that became Aleksi Heimosalmi
2017: Martin Necas... and half of the fanbase is trying to run him out of town
2017: Julien Gauthier. Hasn't developed yet, traded for Joey Keane
2018: MISTA SVECHNIKOV
2019: Ryan Suzuki
2020: Seth Jarvis (thanks Toronto!)

edit: I apparently don't type/research as fast as @Zinger
