So, to finish out the offseason, I think Hughes goes with:
PLD to Montreal for something that includes Anderson, Guhle, Dach
Hughes signs John Klingberg to something like 7x7.
Byron and Armia get traded.

Judd Brackets 1st round picks:

Van
2015 23rd Brock Boeser
2016 5th Olli Juolevi (breakfast ball)
2017 5th Elias Pettersson
2018 7th Quinn Hughes
2019 10th Vasili Podkolzin
MIN
2020 9th Marco Rossi
2021 20th Jesper Wallstedt
26th Carson Lambos
2022 19th Liam Ohgren
24th Danika Yurov

The man knows how to identify talent

I feel like Juolevi was a Benning type move.

Kempe comparable maybe? Although he should be asking for 7 x 7

I don't think any of those things happen.

MTL shouldn't target Dubois until he's actually UFA. Best case scenario they also have Bedard at this point. Acquiring Dubois now seriously hinders this process.

MTL currently doesn't have the cap to sign Klingberg, and frankly I don't see why he'd go there. They're not going to be competitive for like 2-3 years and there's better options now. I like the fit in Buffalo, but he could end up in Seattle, Ottawa or Islanders.

No one wants Byron and Armia. Overpaid bottom-6 players.

2008 - Zach Boychuk (Waivers PIT)

Reports are that Bratts agent is trying to get every last penny. My guess is 7x7 too

Dallas has been pretty solid outside of the top 2 rounds as well:
-Mike Smith, 5th round in 2001 hushed
-Jamie Benn, 5th round in 2007
-Reilly Smith, 3rd round in 2009
-John Klingberg, 5th round in 2010
-Esa Lindell, 3rd round in 2012
-Nick Paul, 4th round in 2013
-Jacob Peterson, 5th round in 2017

Youngsters, who are among our top prospects right now:
-Fredrik Karlstrom, 3rd round in 2016
-Oscar Back, 3rd round in 2018
-Adam Mascherin, 4th round in 2018
-Riley Damiani, 5th round in 2018
-Antonio Stranges, 4th round in 2020
I won't count anyone from 2021, but there are some promising guys in that draft class as well.

Columbus' window is close to open - a few more things going right and they'll have a chance sooner rather than later.

I agree, no need for us to take Dubois on right now, a) we have all the leverage on WPG, wait until the right deal comes and b) let’s evaluate the centers we have before acquiring one. I also agree Klingberg to MTL doesn’t make sense though I think MTL is likely to move a winger ( whether Drou, Hoffman, Armia or Byron )

Is it? Dom’s model still had them as a bottom 10 team even with Gaudreau. They still have no centres or D outside Werenski

Had to check the Leafs:

2020 Amirov
2018 Sandin
2017 Liljegren
2016 Matthews
2015 Marner
2014 Nylander
2013 Gauthier (left FA)
2012 Rielly
2011 Biggs + Percy
2009 Kadri (traded)
2008 Schenn (traded)
2006 Tlusty (traded)
2005 Rask (traded)

****ing 2011 was Burke's worst year and made me want to die considering the fact Gibson and Rakell could have been leafs. And man the 2013 eyesore lul

Could have had Theodore, Hartman, or Burakovsky

Hey, nothing beats Burke declining to move Schenn for 2009 2nd overall pick.

Imagine Hedman with the Leafs 💀

While its not as good of a return I did enjoy JVR especially in the beginning of the Matthews ERA but yeah Hedman on the Leafs would 10000000000X better

I mean, Werenski’s CBJ’s top D but Gavrikov and Peeke are both solid defensively and physical guys ( something they lacked a bit hence adding Gudbaranson ) and guys like Boqvist, Blankenburg, Bean are more skill guys, their defence isn’t exactly good but it’s not bad on paper. CBJ’s forward are also stacked ( even if missing a top Center ). Now they would need to clear cap to sign Laine but Voracek-Jenner-Laine, Nyquist-Sillinger-Bjorkstrand, Johnson-Roslovic-Texier is pretty promising
