#Isles owner Jon Ledecky to fans unrest over free agency so far: “In Lou we trust. If I can bet on one person to bring another Stanley Cup to Long Island, it’s Lou Lamoriello.” pic.twitter.com/GRdbAA0c7X
In two years the rangers will have about 45 mill tied up into Zibanejad, Trocheck, Kreider, Panarin, Goodrow and Trouba. They will all be in their 30s, I don’t want to hear that the rangers have this long window to contend. They have another year or 2 at best.
Losing guys like Eriksson, Roussel, Beagle is addition by substraction. Their younger guys that will replace them will probably make them a better team.

The counter is the absolutely stacked d corps they will be able to ice going forward:
Fox, Miller, Lindgren, Lundkvist, Schneider, Jones.
An embarrassment of riches on the backend, could honestly be the best the league's ever seen when all the guys are entering their prime in 2-3 years time.

I will not stand for this Eriksson slander.
Someone ban this guy.

Yeah, they replaced them with... Zack Kassian and a bunch of rookies that might be 3rd liners one day (Maccelli, Jenik, McBain, Smith). Idk, I don't think they'll really be that much better. If they trade Chychrun they're a lost cause. Best case scenario is Guenther and Soderstrom make the leap to being full-time guys and succeed, but because there's no depth to help them grow organically, they might get forced into too big of a role too early in their careers. They did have a very good 2022 draft, but none of those players will be in the NHL next year (maybe Geekie gets a handful of games because he's got NHL size, and Cooley might get a look at the end of the year if he decides to only spend one year in college, but that's it).

Only Kessel's production will be hard to replace imo, but I still don't see the Coyotes as a significantly worse team than last year but definitely not better which is why I put them in "Teams that are pretty much the same as last season (on paper)". I'd take Kassian over Roussel as much as I'd take Bjugstad over Beagle, Soderstrom can grow and replace Stralman, guys like Maccelli can replace Galchenyuk.

Fox is a superstar, but Miller/Schneider likely top out as good 2nd pair D, same with Jones.
Lundkvist has the most potential of all of the D and he’ll likely be traded. It’s not like NYR have multiple elite defenseman like Colorado or NSH 4 years ago (josi, Ellis, Subban). They have one star and a bunch of solid two way D

Are you telling me that Braden Schneider is not the second coming of Bobby Orr???
I like Kadri but whatever team he’s on i hope he puts up under 45 pts next season. Maybe one day teams won’t give $ and term to 30 year old players coming off a career season.

Yeah that’s fair. I didn’t actually look at the list lol, the comment I was replying to made it sound like you had them as an improved team. They should wind up in the same area next year, fighting for the best odds at Bedard (although I will admit that doing so with young players getting their feet wet is probably better than doing so with veterans that just suck for the Coyotes future, it just won’t yield different results next season).
EsoYeezus69 I think you broke your own record for most likes with your post in the Pacioretty trade thread
Close, but not close enough. The yes meme in the Forsberg one has 1 more with 53, and my most liked one has 70. Ironically enough it’s the exact same meme as the one in the Pacioretty trade thread with the exact same situation (Fleury trade thread).

70?!
I bet there are actual users on here who don't have 70 likes PERIOD
