There has been over $1.1 Billion spent in the first three days of free agency

$0 was spent by the GOAT Lou Lamoriello

Since the news has slowed down dramatically, my updated predictions:

FA's:
-Kadri to Detroit
-Klingberg to Seattle
-Kessel to NY Islanders (just because that would be amazing)
-Niederreiter to Buffalo
-Bergeron back to Boston
-Stastny to Calgary
-Rodrigues to Colorado
-Subban to Buffalo
-de Haan to Anaheim
-Jarnkrok to Nashville
-Janmark to Nashville

Trades:
-Petry stays in Montreal
-Holl to Anaheim
-Bailey to Arizona
-Miller stays in Vancouver

Please no on all ur buffalo predictions. lol

Top UFA's still remaining:

Nazem Kadri
John Klingberg
Nino Niederreiter
Calle Jarnkrok
Mattias Janmark
Sonny Milano
Paul Stastny
Tyler Motte
Evan Rodrigues
(Also Phil Kessel, P.K. Subban, Sam Steel, Danton Heinen, Zach Aston-Reese, Rem Pitlick)

EDIT: Also Bergeron and maybe Krejci, but if they do come back it's all but guaranteed it will be to BOS

Terrific quote here from Daily Faceoff's Matt Larkin:

"I said it on The Daily Faceoff Show months ago: the Golden Knights treat their players like livestock and karma will eventually punish them for it. They’ve thrown one prospect and core player after another aside in pursuit of the next shiny toy, from Pacioretty (!) to Mark Stone to Alex Pietrangelo to Jack Eichel, and it’s finally landed them in salary-cap hell. They were forced to jettison Pacioretty Tuesday for salary-cap reasons, just as they had to move Evgenii Dadonov out earlier this offseason for the same purpose after botching a trade-deadline deal in March that would’ve sent him to a team on his no-trade list.

Let it sink in for a second that, in consecutive offseasons, the Golden Knights have unceremoniously dumped the reigning Vezina Trophy winner, Marc-Andre Fleury, and their best goal-scorer for combined return of, um, nothing."

It’s almost criminal that Vegas will still be very good next year. With Weber on LTIR they will have 6.5mil cap space to resign Hague, Roy, and Kolesar (giving them a 21-man roster including a spare D), which should be doable. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they ship out Laurent Brossoit to make Logan Thompson the full time backup, which would save them an additional 1.56mil without going down a roster spot. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them pick up a guy like Milano or Steel with that extra room, so they have someone to put on 1LW next to Eichel and Stone other than Stephenson (which makes their 3rd line better as they’ll have Stephenson and Roy there).

Jarnkrok to leafs!!! I kinda like it. It does significantly at a minimum Holl, and probably also Kerfoot, are gone.

Kind of surprised it wasnt rodrigues

As to me he would be an interesting 2c candidate to move JT to wing. I wonder if Nylander played a part in this add

Well, if they trade Kerfoot they might have the space to add Rodrigues. Milano is an option too if Rodrigues wants over 2, 2.5 mil.

There are rumblings it could be Muzzin based on Dubas's comments

Jarnkrok's a good add for the Leafs. I thought he might be back in Calgary to play 3C if we looked to strengthen the wings more (we need a top 9 winger and centre, with the possibility of Pelletier being the winger). With him off the market (as well as Trocheck, Copp, and both Stromes) it really seems like Kadri is the only option for the Flames at this point. I don't know if there's another guy on the market that would be affordable enough to bring in to play middle six centre and also grab Niederreiter (which was the other option for a route I thought we'd go down).

Rodrigues?

When Malkin and Crosby were hurt this guy was playing 2c in Pittsburgh and was a nightmare

Like still surprised Carter and Rodrigues were able to carry that responsibility for so long and do well

Rodrigues fell off an absolute cliff once Crosby and Malkin returned though. I'd be hesitant to give him a deal for more than 3 years/2.5 million AAV.

I’m surprised that Rem Pitlick has still yet to be signed. I thought that teams would jump on a young forward who can slot in pretty easily into most lineups. Perhaps it’s an issue of how much salary he wants, but I’m still surprised that no one forked over the money even if that was the case.

Yeah and then crashed right back down to mediocrity. I think that's a guy that had the best few weeks of his life. I don't even know if I see him as a 3C option honestly, I'm not sold on him at all. Maybe at 1.5mil or less on a 1-2 year deal. He did have 30 points in the first 33 games. But then he followed that up with 13 points in the last 49 games, which is a lot more in line with how he's produced through his entire career. He's not the guy you give any sort of money or term to, nor is he a guy you bring in to be a top 9 guy. You bring him in for your 4th line, and hope he can provide excess value, and he's a guy you don't hate throwing into the top 9 if injuries hit (better than Brett Ritchie, that's for sure). Like I would've preferred to give him 2x1.3 rather than Kevin Rooney, but if I had to give him even Jarnkrok money, I wouldn't go near that.

That sounds fine. If he's willing to sign for that and the Leafs can move Holl or Muzzin, would be a great move.

According to Elliotte Friedman, Gaudreaus first choice was Philly but they never reached out to him

And also according to Friedman, it was a 3 way race between Calgary, Columbus, and NJ (Islanders weren’t that aggressive)

Agreed. 2 or 3 years would be better but you can probably trade the last year or 2 of that contract without too much trouble so I’m not worried. Holl is basically guaranteed to be gone and Kerfoot traded is highly likely.

I still don’t see it with the whole NTC but I’d be fine with it.

I'm happy for Palat. He gets to play with an up-and-coming young core in Hughes, Mercer, Bratt, etc. and while it's probably still a year too early, could maybe help the Devils push for a WC. Would love to see him succeed.
