From self-described cup contenders to accepting Ottawa's cast offs. What a roller coaster this has been with Dubas.

Man... what is the NHL's substance abuse policy, and how does it pertain to NHL execs? Because Kyle Dubas is hard-core addicted to former Ottawa Senators, someone please get him the help he needs.

Or better yet he should come take a gig in Ottawa, and get his fix straight from the source. Come work with the best GM in Canada and win the Cup with your favourite hockey team.

I'd rather mete warming the bench and filling in when guys need a game off than paying Holl 2 million to do it. Cap space and all that

Even with Holl gone Mete is likely still marlies depth. Jordie Benn is probably ahead of him on the depth chart.

I would hope not. Jordie benn is 35 and frankly has been pretty bad of late. He doesn't even throw all that many hits at this point in his career...

I don't really care, but I think Benn would be better due to the veteran presence and pysicality he bring though, And I also think that the leafs think this as well.

The only reason this guy played NHL games was because we had 0 LHD capable of playing in the NHL.

Bergevin and Julien gifted this guy life changing money

Yeah, the cap crushes people's perception of Defenders because they get miscast and for whatever reason, when a D-man earns a certain amount, its like you are obligated to continue paying them around that amount.

Ceci at like $1.5-2M a year on short term deals would be a great #5, Gudbrandson is similar. But once their salary gets over $3.5M they are a drag, and that in turn forces the team to play them in situations where they aren't likely to succeed.

the talent was there tho

if you seriously can't come up with more than 2 NHL caliber LHD without rushing prospects you're a bad GM
