Vegas had to pay a second to get rid of Dadonov, you won't receive any assets for him and Ekholm is far supperior to Petry.

You are a reason why people make fun of Habs fans ... Dadonov is a cap dump with negative value but when those players come to MTL, they suddently have value lol

I thought you were not going to reply to me anymore because you don't respect my opinions. Why are you talking to me now?

Dadonov at 20 goals and 43 points and 1 year left on his deal is actually one of the best scoring Habs. If he has no value then no Habs have value. Also we can buy him out for 600K and so could any other team, so he's low risk.

No teams were interested

If Nashville were to trade Ekholm they could get alot better package than Petry. They are not trading him for an older player, they would be looking to get younger.

I guess. I would have thought the same about Burns, Pacioretty, both of the Strome boys. This offseason is all about cap room. Nashville brought in McDonagh... So Ekholm is either playing on the right or moving out...

HABSOLUTELYNOT the Habs will not take a loss on Dadonov . With Hughes if Montreal doesn’t get prospects or value he not going to do it. Petry not being moved is what Hughes thought process is at this time. Because you can flip him at trade deadline next year. VALUE,VALUE CAP ROOM.

Are you responding to my trade sir, or to the replies that say we need to pay a 2nd to cap dump him, or both?

That's not ideal but it's better than Downgrading and taking a cap dump for a usefull player.

Did you just say Petry is a cap dump? Don't you think that's a bit of a ridiculous assessment? Can you backup why he's a cap dump in any logical way?

His contract is very similar to McDonagh who just was traded for a bag of pucks even if he was a very important piece for three consecutive stanley cup final. Petry is older and was awful the last season. Montreal might get something in return but it's not gonna be much.

But conversely ... Ekholm, who had the same number of goals and 8 more assists than Petry is worth a lot more?

Petry has 322 pts in 807 games or 0.399 pts pr game historically
Ekholm has 250 pts in 662 games or 0.377 pts per game historically

Still you are condemning him because he had a bad run for 2.5 months while the Habs had a historically bad coach and a historically bad run of injuries? How is any of that logical?

Ekholm strengh is his defensive game you can't compare their offensive stats to say whose better. He wasn't just bad last season, at times he wasn't even looking like an NHL dman. He might bounce back and I hope so, I like him. But with his past season, his attitude, his age and his contract, it'S a huge gamble to take and I don't see any team willing to give up good assets for that gamble.

Nashville is in the same situation though. The team would be better if they moved some of that LD money to the RD and then signed some middle 2-3 middle 6 forwards. The spend they have on LD is a recipe for mediocrity because you want to play Josi 25 minutes per game so you are severely overpaying for 2 other LD to play 17.5 minutes per game. The team is unbalanced. Each of McD or Ek can handle 22 min per game so it's a waste to have the other guy for what... 13 min?

And who is gonna take that 6.25m on? There are almost no teams with money to spend.

Having too much high quality dman isn't a problem, Nashville is doing just fine especially concidering they still have almost 10 millions under the cap.
