Gonna cost you to move Petersson. Dallas doesn’t have the cap or need

I don’t think the VAN trade would work for the Canucks cap-wise now; take out the 2nd round pick and Kapanen or have VAN ship a another contract back to PIT and it could though. I’d almost rather find a way to take Marino and Pettersson tbh, I’m not a fan of Kapanen.

Yeah DAL was not a good choice but also not really the point. Ship Petersson to whatever team will take him, regardless of the return.

Most people are not fans of Kapanen... but Rutherford is. That's why I think something revolving around Kap will be going back to VAN if there's a trade to be made between VAN and PIT. I agree with you though - I don't think he moves the needle in most trades.

What does a deal around Petersson look like to you? Does it have to include Marino or does Petey + a prospect/pick bundle get it done for Garland or Miller?

They’ve been trying to move that contract for some time now. From what I’ve read nobody wants him. Would think the Pens would need to attach a pretty substantial asset to him to clear that cap space

I think a deal for either Miller or Garland would have to include Marino, as VAN really wants a RHD. But if the cap was worked out going both ways M. Pettersson could be a part of the deal as well.

Kapanen doesn’t really have a spot on our roster unless he’s being played on the fourth line. With the Mikheyev signing, trading for Kapanen doesn’t really make any sense
