I`ve heard Franson say on two different radio stations this summer that he isn`t worried about the money as much as he is the term. He`s had 3 one year contracts in a row and wants a longer one now so I would imagine he`d be getting 3-5yr.

He will get a 1yr. deal. If someone was gonna sign him long term, he would have been signed already. At best, he gets a 2yr. deal. If he doesn't get a 3 or 4 yr. deal with Boston (which he won't unless Seidenberg is traded. Even then he probably wouldn't get a long term deal.) My guess is he doesn't get another offer from Boston and signs a 1yr. 3 million dollar deal with Pittsburgh like Stormm_29 has.

I wouldn't believe anything Franson or his agent says publicly. They are trying to create interest in Franson and make the impression there are multiple teams competing for his service. Unfortunately for Franson....he seems like a good guy....the good money and term has already been spent this summer (some unwisely). At this time, thinking the Ducks need a vet Dman, they have lots of cap room, but they might sign him to a one year deal for 3m or so. Agree with Sqm918. One or two years will be his only option.
To show how the money has declined, Santorelli signed for only 895,000 one a one year deal. Apparently (who knows if it is true) Franson turned down 4.6m a year for 5 years from the Leafs last winter before being traded. Personally thinking he a Jeff Petry type, and I still don't how Petry got 5.5m a year for 6 years. Franson and his agent maybe thought he wold get a similar contract, but as you see, he's still unsigned.
Stormm...don't know why Colorado would take this deal. Scuderi's countryman, Marcantuoni, doesn't seem to be an NHLer player. How did you select him?

Could be right trying to create interest, but I think he's unsigned cause he's waiting for teams to clear cap space. GM's are only allowed to go over so far or they get penalized for it.

Santorelli said he had an offer from Shannahan on a 2yr 1+million deal but declined it for a chance to go for the cup.

IMHO....I figured something was strange with that. I don't see Rutherford standing still until the start of the season neither but he should be going after a left handed d man to pair with Letang or at least a top 4. Gonchar is left handed and if he doesn't work out I would expect JR to trade for a lefty with Dumoulin or Pouliot with equal or greater talent coming back.

Disagree. They need a RH so Cole can go back to the left side. Maatta will partner with Letang. Pouilot is untouchable; JR admitted so in the Kessel deal. Dumolin could get moved but I sincerely doubt it. So the left side is set with Maatta, Pouilot, and Cole/Dumolin. The right needs a #2. Letang, ???, Lovejoy. Cole is likely the #4 right side defender on the depth chart.

Yeah he admitted that but it could of just meant for that specific deal but none the less I cant say your wrong. I looked at that roster for 25minutes and I really cant fix it with one move. That defense is a mess so I think were both right but were kinda both wrong too. I think putting a rookie on the top line of a cup contending team is weak but when I think of a fix that should be done its hard to figure something out. Scuderi has a NTC, Erixon and Dumoulin are both on one way contracts so if you send them down it still counts against the cap.....Rutherford's got a lot of work to do.

I get the hesitation re Maatta. But he did very well his rookie year. It Sucks he missed last season. By the time the playoffs come around I think (hope) that the young defenders will be ready. A vet RH will go a long way as it pushes Lovejoy down to bottom pairing duty and Cole back to the left. If he's on the second unit at least Pouilot will get sheltered minutes.
